waking up that morning to hearing her alarm go off she smacked the snooze button before turning back over and closing her eyes. of course remembering the plan of the day she sat straight up and sighed to herself as she crawled off the bed. walking towards her closet and changing her clothes abby went over and turned her laptop off. signing onto messenger she noticed a message pop up. of course it would be him she thought to herself. talking to him for a bit she walked away from the computer again. abigail hadn't left her house in almost a day since sienna had gotten sick just after she had talked to braidan about meeting at the park to introduce sienna to him. sometimes abigail had wished he had been there through the entire pregnancy but after hearing that he had disappeared and gone to college in north carolina she pushed the thought away. the thought of them ever settling down and raising the child together had been pushed out of her mind soon after she delivered the beautiful baby girl. knowing braiden was off living the college life and she was a teen mother to a child she never in a million years planned on having so young. loving the girl all the same she stood up from her computer after yet another talk with braiden and decided today she'd take sienna to the park and tell her exactly who the strange man was. for a four month old she understood stranger from family and it made abigail happy just knowing that. walking away from her computer and slipping her sneakers on her feet she walked down the hall of her home to sienna's room and picked her up from the crib.
come on baby we're going to meet your daddy , she added before simply changing sienna's diaper and leaving the room as she headed down the stairs and grabbed the stroller from the closet. placing the car seat in it properly and strapping sienna in she pushed it out of the house as she locked the doors behind her. choosing to walk to the park had been very easy since it was nice and sienna needed the fresh air she'd get from the walk. pushing the stroller along the driveway and down to the sidewalk as she headed towards the downtown part of the city she decided on a pitstop to starbucks grabbing herself a mocha caramel frap and a chocolate chip cookie passing that to sienna after paying. leaving starbucks and continuing on her walk she slowed down a bit as she came upon a lake and noticed little fishes and tadpoles swimming around in it. tossing a piece of the cookie to the water and walking along the sidewalk abigail felt knots forming in her stomach. she had not seen braiden in almost 14 months now where in the world would he have come up with the idea to invite her to dinner with his family and than his sisters wedding? who in their right mind did that? she did not know of anybody crazy enough but this was braiden she was talking about, he was crazy. arriving at the entrance of the park she walked inside pushing the stroller along and coming up to the swing set. putting the brakes on the stroller after pulling it close enough she got sienna out of the carseat attachment and held her on her lap as she sat on the swing. starting momentum she smiled softly holding onto her so she didn't fall forward. than again abby had been swinging with sienna on her lap for almost two months now so it wasn't like she didn't know what she was doing.
glancing around she noticed a few people in the park with their children or maybe they were babysitting the little ones running through the sandboxes. someday sienna would be doing that same thing, running around the park, through the sandboxes and driving abigail crazy and up the wall. of course abigail couldn't wait for the day that sienna began walking let alone running at that. holding sienna she slipped off the swing and placed the baby back in the stroller before pushing along and noticing braiden coming towards them. stopping for a second she started walking again holding onto the stroller and smiling down at sienna as she started to doze off. shaking her head and stiffling a laugh she walked towards braiden and stopped the stroller as she got close enough. and she just loves to fall asleep at the most impromptu times, she remarked glancing down at the little girl as she closed her eyes and popped her thumb into her mouth. she'll wake up soon since she just woke up from her nap just before we got here she added glancing at braiden standing there.

you have a child. you are a father. sienna is your daughter. no matter how many ways he'd phrased it in his head, it still felt strange and foreign. he never imagined he'd have been that guy. he was just never raised that way, sure his parents and the church had failed at the whole waiting until marriage bit among the teenaged spence children but they were taught to be careful. be smart. getting shit faced and fucking some random girl didn't fall into the "smart" and "careful" vein, not by a long shot. he was always smarter then that, he'd always kept condoms on him, always always. though he didn't always get as drunk as he had that night, but it was a graduation party, of course he was celebrating harder then normal. he was finally free! he didn't even pull the one-nighters either, he'd had more girlfriends then girls he'd slept with. that was just they way he was raised, sex was not casual and while his parent said it was reserved for marriage, they had also understood times were just that different and that you should only be doing it if you really loved the person and you were ready for all the consequences that could develop from it. like pregnancy for example. he'd just finished up his first year of college, he wasn't ready for children, but he'd have to be. he'd already missed the whole pregnancy and the first four months of his daughters life, true it hadn't exactly been his choice, because again he just wasn't raised to abandon the mother of your child. if he would have known abigail was pregnant he would've taken the scholarship northranger had offered him, even though he'd been counting down the days until he could attend the university of north carolina and really be home. north carolina was his true home, he'd spent practically his whole life there, on it's beaches in it's tourist trap towns, going on dates on the boardwalks, watching the wild shackleford horses and sailing with his friends and a six pack when friday nights offered nothing more then a church social. sure, he could've done without the hurricanes, but north carolina was home. hollow creek was a torture he'd been condemned to but now... now it held his daughter and a woman he'd been unable to get off his mind for the past year. a woman he knew no more about then her first name.
which isn't how it should've happened. at all.
brady could still recall waking up that morning, stark naked and tangled in his sheets his head throbbing and rolling over to find her side of the bed empty. didn't that make him feel like a whore. he'd tried to shake it off, it was a one-night stand, they happened all the time. maybe not to him. okay, never to him, but this would just be the first of many, no doubt. he was going to university, that happened more often then not. no one looked for love at a party over a plastic red cup full of cheap beer. still as that day had progressed he'd tried to find out if any of his friends knew who she was, all they could offer was congratulations and good jobs, but none of them knew an abigail. so, grudgingly, he'd dropped it because the next day he was leaving for north carolina anyway, he'd been eager to get back home since he'd found out he'd gotten the unneeded scholarship, he'd booked a flight two days after his graduation. even about three thousand miles away he couldn't drop abigail from his mind, he'd dated a few girls here and there but she still loomed in the back of his mind and he felt like a total dumbass for it. who pined for a girl he hardly knew and had sex with one time? a girl who obviously hadn't thought much of him or it to even stick around the next morning. he hadn't reached obsessive levels because there were more important things to attend to like football and his grades but he'd never been able to shake her. as he'd travelled home this summer he could feel a little excitement in the back of his mind that maybe he'd run into her here, she'd have to come back and visit family too right? maybe she had gone on to attend northanger? there had always been a chance that she had been one of the many academy students who had come to the school from places like boston and dallas and places miles and miles away from hollow creek and wouldn't have been there for months and would likely not come back. the latter had been too depressing to think about and he['d try to ignore it. and ever tried to ignore his slight excitement because that was just pathetic. one night stands were one night stands for a reason. still the universe had answered him and he'd run into her and the grin that trailed over his face...fuck, it had to have been so pathetic. but then... then he'd noticed the child she had with her, a baby he assumed was a younger sibling until the little girl had looked up at him full in the face and it had looked much like rosalie had when she was a bay and well... him. at that moment he'd kind of felt his world shift, like it was now orienting around a new center - sienna and abby.
shock wasn't exactly the appropriate word, but it came the closest to explain what he'd felt. what he still felt, he was moving in a haze still. it still didn't quite feel real even though he'd seen his daughter. today though, today was going to make it real. today he got to really meet her, further then his stunned silence and the awkward conversation he'd had with abby before she'd found an excuse to leave after exchanging some contact information. however there was more excitement bubbling in his stomach as he rushed through his morning routine, his ever astute mother noticed the change over the past couple days, questioning him about what he was hiding - because mothers always knew. it was actually a bad time to drop this kind of bombshell to her. his eldest sister was getting married in less then three weeks and they were only taking a break for a few days to visit with him. stress was the primary environment of his household at this point, and while it had faded for him, he felt the familiar hum in the background. saw the faint frenzy in briony's eyes as she tried to go over last minute plans at night in the living room while he watched on, occasionally offering his input which only earned him a glare from his favourite sibling who was normally much sweeter but he imagined it was just what happened when a woman was planning her wedding. he imagined that it probably wouldn't feel real until his family knew too, but there was apart of him that was afraid. "oh yeah, i got this girl pregnant last year. no i don't really know her, we were drunk sorry. oh and by the way i'm not going back to north carolina." considering he'd already called northanger and applied, talked to a counselor about transferring it was a matter of time before they called back and his mom or dad answered and then wondered why he was suddenly staying here. it was another time limit on when he had to tell them about abby and sienna. however those worries were gone for the day, the only thing humming around him was nerves and excitement. he was getting to officially meet his daughter today. nothing rushed, nothing awkward.
he was all but bouncing with excitement as he'd ducked out the door, ignoring his mothers questions about what he was doing and where he was going. the drive to the park went by too fast thanks to a lead foot and eagerness, running a hand over his hair he stepped from the car and started walking across the grass, they hadn't picked a place to meet more of a general area and that was inconvenient to his eagerness, finally his eyes landed on abigail pushing the stroller, he smiled as he caught her gaze and quickened his pace a little meeting her a little over half way, his eyes trailed down to the stroller when sienna was sleeping and his smile widened a little, before he drew his eyes up to abigail, "hey," his eyes fell back to sienna, holding back a chuckle as she pulled her thumb into her mouth, he looked back up at abigail as she spoke nodding a little, "she needs sleep, it's good for her." he replied with a shrug, as he looked down at his daughter like she was the most fascinating thing in the world, before he again looked up to abigail, "how have you been?" he asked as he felt a little of the guilt bubbling up in him, she shouldn't have had to do this all alone, he could've tried harder to get in touch with her after they'd slept together.
