“please, ocky, pleaseeeeeeeeee….” his younger cousin pleaded, staring up at him hopefully, and he sighed, this is exactly why he shouldn’t be left in charge of small impressionable children, when it came to being mature and responsible he was seriously lacking. His first mistake had been agreeing to let the boy stay home rather than escorting him to some tutoring thing his mother had organized, and it had just progressed from there. “ I’m going to be in enough trouble landz…” he responded, making a face, “ and I’m too sexy to die ” he added, laughing, “ besides, if something goes wrong and you end up with no eyebrows she’ll never forgive me…” and she wouldn’t, may-lynne was not the sort of person who forgot, but had that stopped him before? hardly. “shes not going to be home for hourrrrsss…” he responded impishly, glancing down at the fireworks with enthusiasm, “too much like me you are.. ” he observed, relenting, “ alright, alright… but if you out me to your mom your gonna pay” he threatened rather hollowly, ruffling the boys hair.
Of course, this particular day may-lynne would decide to come home earlier than usual, and caught landon blow torching some of his old toys into a puddle of melted plastic. “WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING?” she screeched, furious, causing them both to jump and look up in surprise, “ uh… hey..” he began, scratching the back of his neck and grinning sheepishly, “ive put up with a lot from you, god only knows why, and you pull this?” his smile died away, this was possibly the angriest he’d seen his aunt, and that was saying something, there was barely a day that went past where she wasn’t yelling at him for something or other. He opened his mouth to speak but she cut him off, “get out, get out, GET OUT” she yelled, marching toward the front door and opening it, glancing briefly at a very apprehensive landon he shrugged and made for the door, it wasn’t the first time he’d been kicked out, nor would it likely be the last. He could hear her yelling start up as soon as the door slammed behind him, and he shook his head, less worried about the situation than he probably should be. Pulling out his phone he sent a text to isolde to warn her, flipping through his contacts absently he came across bri’s number and sighed, ever since she’d started working on that wedding dress for her friend he’d barely seen her at all, or at least, not as much as normal. He debated briefly whether to call ahead, but decided maybe he’d just drop in and surprise her, see if he couldn’t tear her away from her work for and hour – or the after noon.
One could hope.
Only a year ago he wouldn’t have even bothered, wouldn’t have even entertained the idea of going out of his way for a girl, he would have been on to the next pretty face that walked past. But that was before he met a feisty little brunette, who was still as sexy and intriguing to him now as she was when they had first met, more so even. There was no doubting that he liked her, liked her alot, which is why it was a surprise to him as well as everyone else that he hadn’t manned up an asked her out already. As cocky and sure of himself as he was, he was actually worried she’d say no, which is why he backed out at the last minute time after time.
Knocking on the front door he was greeted but a rather tired looking blaine, “ late night? ” he inquired with a half grin, “something like that” he responded, grinning sleepily in response, “shes upstairs, try and get her out of that room will you?” he offered a knowing look, “somehow I think you might have more luck than me” and with that he wandered off in the direction of the kitchen, chuckling he made for the stairs. Knocking briefly he pushed the door open, “ alright, step away from the dress or the sewing machine gets it..” he joked, glancing around the room, before looking at her and grinning, “ hey stranger…”

WAS SHE OBSESSING? yeah, no doubt about it. the dress was fairly simple, it took a lot of fabric because that's just what wedding dresses liked to do, but it was a pretty simple design. there really wasn't much more she could do to it – excepting, of course, adding the last skirt to it - but the prospect of her mother being in the same room with it. scrutinizing it, ready to nit pick at the first loose bead or dropped stitch she saw it had turned briar into a mad woman. that is, madder then she already was. leah had a point, why should she care so much? because my mom's a god. she grumbled, then casting a glance around the room she shook her head. great, now you're answering yourself. all lunacy aside, she did have to admit that she shouldn't have cared what her mom thought. she was really just another person, an amazing designer, but pretty much just another person. a person she was going to try her hardest to avoid, especially since she intended on bringing that douche lord she called a husband. something she had already prepared for, by way of making ezekiel grudgingly promise not to make a scene. still thinking about her step-father made her stomach a little queasy and she sighed, true he hadn't raised a hand to her since she had moved to her dad's but she'd still seen it in his eyes every time her and her mom or bri and him had gotten into a shouting match. three tempers like that just shouldn't spend an excess of about ten minutes together. something she had yet to convince her dad every time he sent them out there for the summer, granted she was sure if she'd given her dad all the particulars on why she'd came to washington to begin with she was pretty sure she and blaine wouldn't have to make the trips or the douche lord would just disappear one day. both options sounded appealing, but mostly she was hoping for them both, him disappearing and no trips to the city ever again – at least no trips to see her mom.
OF COURSE, ONE could only expect so much and negotiating trips from six weeks down to two was only about as much as she could expect. it was a small victory but she'd take it. she returned to pinning with a vengeance, sure, that once she got back into the swing of the project she'd be able to forget her mom and frustrating trips, for the most part. of course it would have been much better if she were getting to cut something, it released amazing amounts of anger, but pinning seemed to be okay, the all to yielding fabric could very easily be her mother. a distant part of her mind screamed it was an unhealthy fantasy and she quickly dropped it. finishing her pinning – thinking instead about how long this last step would take and not of jabbing her mom with straight pins- she returned to her much abused and severely overworked sewing machine. focusing on making the gathering even – something her mother had criticized on a dress leah had worn to the apartment that summer – she tried to ignore blaine as he entered her room, for probably the third time in an hour. until he finally sighed, she let up on the presser foot and dragged her chocolate brown eyes from the tulle and up to him, could i help you with something? she said trying to make her tone stay even, him and her father had been doing a lot to get her to back off the project, to take a break for a day or two. she had the time, she'd be able to finish it no problem, but it just wasn't her to stop like that. she was far from a procrastinator, she had a project and she liked to get it done. it's not like it was really work to her, she enjoyed all the sewing – minus all the jabbing herself with pins. if she were smarter she would probably drag it out, and she did have a pretty good rhythm going with the dress in the beginning. her excitement had caused of flurry of work, but then she'd cooled down on it, because she didn't want to overwork herself on it. however the im with conversation with gabriel had derailed her schedule and she'd thrown herself back into it with a vengeance. do you plan on eating? he offered with a tone that suggested he'd had to repeat the question because she had been gone in he thoughts. unlike you and dad i don't need to eat every five minutes... she offered, then sighing at his look, i had breakfast... then maria brought me a pb & j like an hour ago? i'm fine.
IN A MANIC sort of way, but fine nonetheless. her brother opened his mouth to protest like he'd done many times before, though she was pretty familiar with this lecture already, when you leave, shut the door and try not to bother me again unless the house is on fire or the aliens are finally taking you back. she teased with a smile, actually, no, only about the house being on fire. just be sure to write once they've taken you... an expectant look replaced her teasing one, bye. i love you. don't trip over that bolt of fabric. she said, gesturing at a bolt of golden fabric near the door, which was out of the way for most people, but for the alexandar twins it would still be dangerous. she let the door shut before she returned to gathering the fabric, pausing only to push the glasses she wore up the bridge of her nose or brush the too long bangs away from her face. she was pretty sure she'd never be more happy to see then end of a project then this.
FINALLY DONE GATHERING the final skirt for the dress, she removed the thin white fabric from the table and turned back to the mannequin that wore the dress and began to pin it on. after this was pinned she was going to take a break. something she'd said many times but it'd never really come to fruition. never had a knock on her door been more grating to her nerves, blaine, for the love of god, ther- though her brothers voice didn't meet her ears and she turned on the door, a smile already replacing the irritation, she hated to admit how well she knew that voice. the smile dimmed a little at his greeting, yeah, she'd been pretty absent. the wedding clothes had eaten up a lot of her time that she'd spent with her friends and him. not that she'd really gotten oodles of time with him anyways with her school and his practices. well, it's almost done... she said, looking back to it, then to him before she put the pins she'd been holding back into the plastic box and walked over to him, i literally have one thing left to do, then nai can try it on and we can fix anything that might be wrong. which there better be nothing wrong because i seriously might burn it. she said with a light chuckle, shaking her head and running a hand through her hair. but enough about the dress? she said, smiling again, what are you here for? not that i'm complaining... she continued, her smile turning to a small grin. yeah, missing out on time with him definitely had to be in the top two downsides of her obsessing about her mom coming and this dress.

Stepping across the room and taking a seat on her bed he was careful to avoid standing on or tripping over anything, the last thing he wanted to do was undo all of her hard work, there was no chance of dragging her away from the project if he did that, “ so if your almost done, that means you could spare some time for a certain super sexy person you know, yes? ” he asked then, encouraged to see her return the pins to their box and join him, certainly all this time away from her was not helping to keep his ego in check, if anything, he had actually begun to miss her sassy little quips, of course, that was not the only thing he missed about her, “ I’m sure everything will be fine… ” he responded, taking her hand and pulling her closer to the bed, his smile reassuring, he recognized paranoia when he saw it. How many times had he seen a look just like that on a designers face prefacing a fitting with his mother growing up? Too many. She was a perfectionist when it came to fit, and she would accept nothing less.
To her question he feigned insult, “ what? I cant come over simply because I wanted to see you?” he asked, raising a brow, “actually… ” he began, dark eyes taking on a devilish glow, his gaze flickering briefly to the dress and back to her, “ I was hoping we could fit in a quickie between hems.. ” he added, his voice husky and suggestive but his smile pure innocence, before giving a soft laugh, “you know me too well it seems.. ” he conceded after a moment, looking a little sheepish, “I got kicked out of the house…. again ” he added, shrugging nonchalantly, “ however… I was planning to come see you today anyway, I just got landed with Landon duty instead.. ” he made a face, it wasn’t like he was opposed to looking after his cousin, but if it was a choice between him and briar, there was no doubt where he’d rather be, “ you’ve been neglecting me you know… ” he told her with a grin, before standing up and stepping towards her, “ and its just cruel to deprive me of these for too long..” he added, leaning in a kissing her briefly, a smile pulling across his lips as he drew back, for two people who weren’t ‘dating’ they definitely spent an unusual amount of time kissing, which he definitely could not complain about. It had only gotten worse the more time he was away from her, which was a good deal more tortuous to him than he’d ever let on.
Sliding one arm around her waist, the other found its way up to rest against her cheek, his eyes studying her leisurely. God she was beautiful, every part of her. Tilting her face up towards him he kissed her again, his usual self control slipping slowly out of his grasp. Getting lost in the moment, his hand slid from her cheek and along her shoulder, following the neckline of her top to the button at the front before he caught himself, his arm joining the other that was tight around her waist. Normally he wouldn’t have stopped there, but when it came to briar he had developed quite a penchant for hesitation. Pulling back, he gazed at her, needing a moment to catch his breath before he could speak, “so… what do you say? I think you’ve earned yourself a break, don’t you? ”

BRIAR GAVE A short laugh, that turned into a sigh i guess i could be prevailed upon to do so, she began before her lips curved into a smirk and her tone making taking a suggestive turn, as it frequently did around him, but, and there is always a but, she said with a nod, this certain sexy person would have to make it worth my while... quickly her teasing smile returned, unfortunately i don't really know johnny depp and i'm sure he's busy with that french girls he's married too. the teen said, giving a dejected sigh, so, i guess i'm just stuck with working on the dress... teasing him like that was too much fun, teasing any guy with an ego was fun really, but most of the time they proved to be too sensitive and it ruined it. even ezekiel, who knew briar's humour after all this time, still got a little offended. tav was harder to crack, if her jibes touched him at all they were only barely doing so or he kept them quite hidden, by now he had to have been used to it. she nodded as he pulled her closer, a knowing smile on her face, of, course you are only saying that so i'll make out with you... she said with a chuckle, you aren't as sly as you think, i see right through you... she continued with a soft smile, not that boys were all that hard to make out anyways. they had very few motivations in what they did, ones that normally revolved around food or sex, they weren't exactly rocket science. whatever your motivation; i'll take it. i need all the positive thought i can get. she offered with a giggle, bringing a finger across the palm of his hand, my mom is coming, this has to be perfect. she said, bringing her gaze up from their hands, were she not, i wouldn't be so manic. she explained with a chuckle, true she liked to just get in and get her projects done, but she did know that working non stop would tire her out, make her lose her interest in the project and sometimes even end up messing up if she just took the time to chill out.
THE BRUNETTE GRINNED, shaking her head, do not act so wounded. she said with a laugh. she saw the change in his thoughts before he voiced it, normally the comment would have elicited a blush but he seemed to enjoy her blushes far too much, instead she snorted looking briefly away and shaking her head, before bringing her gaze back to him and quirking a brow expectantly, ah, what is that... third time this week? it wasn't just because she was biased, but she thought he was kicked out much more often then was needed, he might have been testy but his aunt didn't exactly have the patience of a saint and she had the tendency overreact much like ezekiel did. perhaps you should consider moving in with ezekiel... she suggested, amusement dancing across her features, he has a few rooms to spare, surely he'd let you have one. she wasn't sure though if the house wouldn't burst at the seams with all that ego, but it would be funny to see them interact. i'm glad you're here though.... she said, her smile losing the teasing edge and softening, i have missed you... and not just because you are so fun to tease. much like her brother, she couldn't stay too serious for too long, especially when faced with a thing like this. it was hard to keep to her self-imposed no dating rule when she had a boy like him running around, he was the only guy that she'd considered breaking the rule for. her smile widened at his words and she tilted her face up in answer helping close the distance between them faster, smiling against his lips, makes you appreciate me more, she said sticking her tongue out at him, though she couldn't deny that kissing him was in the top five of her favourite things to do, until he had kissed her the first time she was almost positive she would have never met a greater kisser then cooper, as much as she hated to admit it now they had had some pretty amazing make out sessions. making out with tav though was better on a million different levels and also a greater test to her self control then kissing with any other guy had ever been.
THIS TIME SHE couldn't hold back the blush, raspberry flooded across her cheeks under his gaze but she didn't drop her eyes from his. she met his lips eagerly draping her arms around his neck, one hand threading into his hair; yeah, she was perfectly content spending the rest of the afternoon like this. it easily brushed away her worries about her mother and making the dress perfect and the fact she was abandoning her english paper to spend more time on the dress. getting on her tip toes to bring herself closer, she gently nipped at his bottom lip with a short giggle. if it were possible for her heart to be beating any faster surely it picked up pace as he hand dropped from her cheek and moved down, this is where she should have stopped it, neither of them had the strongest self-control. when his fingers brushed the top button of her romper, her heart skipped a beat and she nearly drew back before he did. the blush hadn't abated if anything it was only brighter now. she took up his gaze again but couldn't speak either for trying to catch her breath, she gave a small chuckle as she licked her lips, she couldn't imagine being on his end; it was hard for her and it had to be so much harder for him. she nodded mutely, before a smile drew across her face, i don't know how i could focus after that... she said after a moment, glad to find her voice wasn't tremulous with the nerves that had swelled in her stomach. brushing her lips over his again, she took a small step back drawing a hand through her hair and tossing a glance to her door, my brother is going to walk in... she said, biting her lip, her father was gone for the next couple of days so he was no worry but blaine never failed to come break things up when he thought it was too quite, hesitating for a moment she stepped completely away from him, i don't want to hear him lecturing me for the next two weeks over nothing... she said as she stepped past him and sat on her bed indian style, running a hand through her hair as she looked up at him, so, what havoc have you been wreaking to earn your aunts disdain today? she asked, trying to defer more kissing until she was properly recovered from the last one.

He grinned, “ how very gracious of you..” he teased, chuckling, “ oh I’m sure they would have no problems doing that… ” he countered, his smile only dimming slightly at her next worlds, “ johnny depp?” he rolled his eyes, and gave an exaggerated sigh, “ what do you girls see in that guy? ” he asked, shaking his head, “besides, what is he.. like fifty? ” he shrugged, his smile turning cocky, “ if he’s super sexy, what does that make me? ” he paused, eyeing her thoughtfully,“ on second thoughts, don’t answer that.. ” he added, wary of the mischievous look in her eyes. At her words, he couldn’t help but laugh, “ of course ” he agreed shamelessly, grinning, “ but can you blame me? ” he asked, raising her hand to his lips, and kissing the inside of her wrist. “your mom? ” he asked, a little surprised, “you invited her? ” he asked before thinking better of it, he was sure the question didn’t sound quite as ridiculous in his head, shaking his head he glanced at the dress again, “ well it looks pretty perfect to me, of course, I freely admit I know nothing when it comes to these things” he added, with a shrug, he’d never understood why women fussed over such things, nor did he care, certainly he never really paid much attention to the clothes, as opposed to the girl in them.
He gave a laugh, “ actually its only the first…” he said proudly, laughing at the skeptical look he got, though it was deserved, but this time of the week he was at least on his third or forth eviction, “really.. I was trying to be good this week… ” he insisted, grinning, though his definition of good was only unintentionally setting things on fire, as opposed to doing it on purpose. “ your joking right? ” he asked, making a face, its not like he hated the guy, in fact, under any other circumstances they probably could have been good friends. Living with him, however, would just be way too awkward. “ you are?” he asked, feigning surprise, “well ive missed you too….” he responded, “ and its not just because your incredibly sexy..” he added, studying her face for a moment, she certainly seemed to be getting used to his comments, because it was getting harder to make her blush, “ I really cant see how I could appreciate you any more than I do already, but okay..” he said with a laugh, a smug look appearing on his face as her cheeks colored at his staring.
Who knew octavius Theodore berringer had self control? In the past year he had surprised himself time and time again that he could still pull back before things got too intense, before he went too far. Its not like he wasn’t tempted, he had never been more tempted in his life. It was driving him crazy to be honest, wanting her like this, wanting her in way that her kisses – as great as they were – could barely sate. This was the longest he’d been without sex since his teenage hormones had kicked in, and it was harder than he’d ever imagined. “ exactly.. ” he agreed, not even trying to hold back the smirk that slipped over his lips, it wasn’t the first time a girl had said that, or something similar to that to him, he was fully aware of his effect on the female race, but it had never been as satisfying to him than to hear it from her lips. He pulled her back towards him briefly when she tried to step away, “ so…? ” he taunted, raising a brow, his grin indulgent, he certain had no inhibitions around her when her twin was around, he had already proved that numerous times, at eighteen he was well an truly immune to disapproving looks. He let his arms drop however, allowing her to move away from him “ cant say I blame him… ” he offered, laughing lightly, “ I wouldn’t trust me either.. ” he added, turning around and facing her, his eyes glittering with mischief, he glanced at his watch, “ leaving it a little long though isn’t he?” he asked, mouth tipping, “ I could have totally had you naked by now..” he added, “my breathing the same air she does is enough to earn that ” he added, flippantly, “ come on, if your worried about your brother walking in, then lets go out” he said, reaching for her hand and pulling her to her feet. Stepping close he made like he was going to kiss her again, but instead turned his face to her neck, chuckling faintly as he placed a kiss just beneath her jaw. “ lets go” he announced, grinning deviously, before scooping her up in his arms and making for the door, heedless to whatever objections she might have. Opening it he was unsurprised to find her brother, “your late ” he told the boy as he stepped past, grinning at the look on confusion on his face, “ don’t wait up” he called across his shoulder. “so where to? ” he asked, setting her down again only after they’d made it safely outside the house.

THE TEEN NODDED, traces of a smirk still on her face, "i thought you would think so," she said running a hand through her hair, absently twirling a curl around her finger, laughing at his reaction, "age brings wisdom and all the crap, you no longer have to worry about training them once they reach that age." she joked, shaking her head, "i honestly don't get it either, it's like george clooney, everyone thinks he is so hot but he really isn't all that attractive." briar grinned at his question, plenty of smart ass remarks swirling around in her head and as she opened her mouth to deliver the first she was disappointed by his interruption, even so it didn't stop her from having her fun. her brow arched in a way her brother had always been able to do naturally and a skill she'd only mastered within the past couple years, "really?" she baited, "well, that's too bad, because i actually had some good things to say.." she said with a sigh, fixing him with a teasing smile. "oh no, of course not, i'm amazing." she joked, laughing lightly as she rolled her eyes and shook her head. considering all the time she spent leah you'd think that a little more of her confidence and the grace she accepted compliments with would have rubbed off on briar, it hadn't. sure, briar thought she was pretty but next to her best friend she felt a little plain and was used to the attention falling on the blonde. she nodded to his question worrying her lip for a moment, his surprise was understandable, she had been surprised and then completely miserable when she found out that her mother was coming. there were certain things bri liked about hollow creek and the number one thing was that it was free of her mother's influence completely. she had no memories with her mother here, she'd never been here since briar moved there and while this is where bri's dad grew up and all of his family lived in the county they'd never visited as a family. it was her safe, mom free zone, where the bad pieces of her life didn't bleed over into her amazing pieces. "no," she said, snorting, "gabe has shot a couple campaigns for her, apparently my mom has a soft spot for him and nai, so he invited her...." or maybe her mother insisted she go, she didn't really have much tact, even all the years she was married to bri's dad hadn't helped it. "my step-dad is coming too." which she tried say as evenly as possible, since the explanation of her rocky relationship with her mother was a conversation they had yet to have yet. she looked back over at the dress, giving a small smile, "it's no vera wang, but i think it's pretty good. especially for having never done one. it's almost like making a prom dress."
SHE SMILED AT him but she still offered a questioning look, it wasn't a lack of faith in him just that she knew his aunt was pretty much the most high stung person in town, with competition like ezekiel's mother that was truly amazing. "that's possible?" she teased with a laugh, he could have been so so much worse though, still she was pretty sure that he was the kid that no one wanted to baby-sit when he was younger. "well, i was to begin with, but i don't know i'm sure you two could make it work..." she said, amused by the idea but noting that it did have it's merits, "if you two could like, stop acting like cave men i think you guys would be really good friends..." juding by the look on his face, he was not so inclined to agree with her and she laughed, "there is a bigger chance of miley cyrus still being a virgin then you two ever being nicer to each other then isolde and i make you, right?" she asked, even though she already knew the answer to that, she sighed, "boys..." before she returned to smiling, something that was pretty hard to avoid around him. generally that comment would have made her blush, she was an easy blush and annoying, annoying habit, most of her other emotions she controlled rather well, burying or bringing more important ones to the top, a skill she mostly had to imply when any topic of her mother came up. the one thing she had a hard time controlling was blushing, it was a pain in the ass, even more so when you had people like him and ezekiel who enjoyed making girls blush so much and had an exceptional talent of doing so. today she fought the blush, rolling her eyes and shaking her head instead.
NORMALLY THAT SMUG smirk he got would have annoyed her, but she was slowly becoming used to his cockiness, it was almost as endearing as it was annoying, she laughed "my, my and here i thought it was my job to use my wiles against you..." she grinned, remembering the morning in his dorm where she had shamelessly tried to distract him after hiding his sorely needed pain killers. "can't say i blame you it's very effective.." she said with a chuckle. her brother was not a scary person, any guy she'd dated or that had liked her had ever been worried about her brother, mostly because they were aware that he was about as klutzy as herself but he wasn't built by any stretch of the imagination, he wasn't scrawny anymore something she'd barely just allowed after much insistence from kai that he'd built up a little muscle. so, his devil-may-care attitude didn't surprise, tables turned she wouldn't have been scared of her brother either, but it's not like she really needed anymore encouragement from him to not pull herself away when it was already difficult for her and her substandard self control. it was always pretty obvious that things could go pretty far, really fast with them and sometimes had it not been for him - which was most amusing to her - things would have gotten out of hand. she didn't resist when he pulled her back and she kissed him again briefly before she stepped back quickly when he let her go. "it's just as much me as it is you, honestly." she said, shaking her head, she might should have been a little bother by her brothers lack of faith in her self control but she really couldn't blame him, she had little faith in it too, less so around tav. "oh really? you think so?" she asked, laughter cutting into her words, "i've gotta say i think you're overestimating your abilities..." she hated how much that had sounded like a challenge and she dropped her gaze from his, blushing barely as she brushed a hand through her hair.
AS EXPECTED, SHE stumbled a little as he pulled her from the bed, but she steadied herself quickly, tossing a glance to the dress then back to him, she was totally planning on being able to work on it while he was there. it might have only lasted for a few minutes but at least she had the option, this was a sign she was getting away too crazy about this project and she definitely needed to get out. bri smiled as he kissed her neck, which was definitely an unfair tactic, "that's totally cheating..." she informed him, before her words turned to a small cry of surprise, but honestly why should she have been, this was totally his shtick. "really?" she said trying to infuse as much irritation as she could into her face and town, but severely lacking, it was always more amusing then it was annoying.. most of the time. laughing already as he reached her door, her brothers face made it a little worse and she turned her face into tav's shoulder before she looked back at him, "i don't know either.. love you." she called, before she looked up at tav, "i'm pretty sure this is kidnapping," she teased, tossing a look up to the landing where her brother still stared after them. she held on to his arm for a moment to steady herself before she walked with him, "i don't know, wherever, i'm playing the unwilling victim here.... plus i'm a horrible person to put a decision in the hands of." she teased before she bit her lip, "are you hungry? we could go eat." she suggested, lamely, pulling a hand through her hair, "or...we could... i have no clue..." she laughed and shook her head, "that's really lame of me."

“ no, age brings wrinkles.. and arthritis..” he corrected with a mischievous grin, his eyes glittering suggestively, “besides, you know us guys, we never learn.. ” he pointed out, his expression faintly smug, he was fairly sure she’d used that line of argument on him before. He laughed, “ is that the guy who played bond once? No wait, that was that other old guy.. or something” his voice trailed off, and he gave a shrug. He really didn’t bother following these things, he had no interest in them further than what they were doing in whatever movie he was watching at the time. Certainly he didn’t care what their real name was, their favorite color, or how many African orphans they had adopted. “ liar” he shot back teasingly, “ you never have anything good to say..” he exaggerated, while most of the time they spent together she mocked him mercilessly, she did throw the odd compliment in there. Not that he minded, this level of egotism was simply impossible to extinguish. He laughed, “ and I have the ego?… ” he teased, raising a brow, “ your learning.. ” he added approvingly, grinning with amusement. “ I take it that’s something your not exactly thrilled about..” he offered carefully, studying the uneasy expression. It hadn’t failed to escape his notice that she was tentative when talking about her mother, even more so her step father, so he did his best to be avoid the subject, “ oh right, of course..” he said with a nod, sure that had he paid more attention he might have known that, but he had a bad habit of tuning out, “want me to drop kick him for you? ” he offered, only half jokingly, he totally would if she asked him to. At the name he pressed his lips together, stifling a laugh, as one of his mothers favorite designers and someone she mentioned frequently you’d have thought the amusement would have worn off by now. Catching her look he tried to look solemn“I’m sorry, its incredibly immature I know, but it gets me every time.. ” he offered sheepishly, running a hand through his hair, the smile creeping back, “ but really..” he added, clearing his throat, and glancing at the dress “ it looks great.” he added, flashing a wide grin.
“then your crazier than I thought.. ” he teased, rolling his eyes, him and Ezekiel roommates, it was just something he couldn’t see happening. The only upshot he could see in the whole scenario would be being able to keep tabs on the guy, to make sure he was staying faithful. “cave man? That hurts.. ” he responded with a laugh, shaking his head, it would definitely make things easier, but as a man he was much too stubborn to actually concede that. He gave her a look of mock offence, “I’m plenty nice.. ” he insisted, which was only a half truth, he could easily be nicer, but by the same token he could be a lot more mean. He was single handedly the reason none of the boys were game enough to go near isolde the summers they had spent at their grandfathers estate, its too bad the same scare tactics wouldn’t work on Ezekiel. “oh come on, girls can be just as bad.. ” he objected, albeit half heartedly.
He gave her a reproving look, “that was evil you know, pure evil… ” he told her, trying not to grin, “ your lucky… I don’t think would have suffered a hangover like that for anyone else.. ” if it had been any other girl, he probably would have abandoned them in search of painkillers. “you? ” he asked, raising a brow, suddenly curious, “what are you, some kind of seductress? Should I be worried?” he joked, eyeing her suspiciously. He laughed, “with your full consent of course.. ” he assured her, grinning. At her next words he laughed, “ maybe I am..” he mused, a slow smile pulling across his lips, resisting the temptation to test out the theory. The competitive streak in him was all for it, but that sensible part that he’d only recently learned how to use knew it was better to refrain, and instead gave a shrug, “ but I’ve always been an optimist..”
He noticed her glance back toward the dress, and stifled a laugh, “it will still be there to obsess over in a couple of hours. promise ” he assured her, which he figured was about how long he would get before she would insist on returning to the project, “ cheating?” he made a feeble attempt to look offended by the accusation, but it soon turned to a laugh, and he brought his lips close to her ear, “I prefer to call it playing to your weaknesses.. ” he added in a low voice, “ and since you don’t have many I’m just going to have to exploit the ones you do” he told her, chuckling darkly.“yes really.. ” he responded, his grin unrepentant, giving a laugh at the look of irritation on her face, one that he was sure was a tenth as fierce as she had intended it to be. “oh please, I am sure you could get away if you really wanted to… ” briar was hardly meek, he had full faith that if she had the means of escaping him if she so chose. He laughed, “ and I am the obliging kidnapper … you should be grateful I’m giving you a choice.. ” he shrugged, “ yeah, but I’m a guy, I’m constantly hungry.. ” something that irritated his aunt no end, but only because he was in the kitchen a lot inspiring colorful complaints from her personal chef; who was touchy about people taking up his bench space. “… your right, it is lame… ” he responded, giving an exaggerated sigh, “ what will I do with you woman? ” he asked, putting an arm around her shoulders and offering her a grin. “ but seriously, there has to be something you want to do?”

AMUSED, SHE SHOOK her head, "well, aren't you depressing?" she teased, chuckling a little, whether or not he had a point was completely irrelevant, he just wasn't allowed to smash her arguments like that, it wasn't cool. she bit her lip to hold back a laugh at his words, "truer words were never spoken." she replied with a smirk, grinned at the look on his face, "hey, you said it. i was merely agreeing with you." it was the same reasoning her father would use on her if she was irritated with herself and said something like "you're such a dumbass" to the room and because he thought he was so clever he'd offer her that after he agreed with her, her and blaine may have gotten most of their looks from their mother - with the exception of their thick, dark curls - but they got their sarcasm and wit from their father. "uhm, i have no clue. i don't think so, the bonds were like sean connery, george lazenby... roger moore or something... uh, pierce brosnan and now daniel craig..." she said with a shrug, to the look she got she smiled, "my dad loves westerns and bond.." it wasn't like a bonding thing between them because anytime he put a western on she ran the other way but she'd sometimes watch the james bond movies with him, she enjoyed them enough to be irritated with her dad about a blonde bond, it just wasn't right. she tried to act shocked at his words, but her lips unwillingly turned up in a smile, "well, you'll never get anything nice out of me now!" she teased, stinking her tongue out at him, "gosh, and you wonder why i'm never nice to you." she said with a deep sigh, "i keep hoping that it might make the slightest dint in your ego, or at least make you second guess yourself for a fraction of a second, but i think i'm working on a lost cause here." she teased, but stroking his cheek affectionately. she laughed, "what is it that you guys always say; it's not ego if it's the truth?" she said with a chuckle, "that's an explanation for it. " she returned, before she chuckled a little at his offer, wouldn't she have loved to see that. she studied his face for a moment, fairly certain he had meant most of it, "i already told zeek no, now how do you think he'd like it if i let you do it?" she asked trying play it off with a joke, ignoring that she had told him months ago that she would tell him about the tumultuous relationship her and her mother shared, she was glad he avoided the conversation mostly. he was one of the few people that had let it drop when it was clear she was uncomfortable discussing it. she shook her head at his words, though amused, she couldn't lie she generally had the mind of a 14 year old boy, she'd done her fair share of giggling at the name herself. "i wouldn't expect much less." briar told him with a soft smile.
YEAH, IT WAS kind of insane but she was sure both boys had enough maturity buried in them way down deep to actually sort of make it work, or maybe not it was really one those 'it could go either way' she was pretty sure it was one of those all or nothing kind of things- the extreme one way or the extreme the other way. "you better watch it there." she quipped back before she laughed, "oh, yeah, i'm sure it did. cut you right to the quick." she teased, "honestly, i think most cave men were better behaved." she teased, even though she was pretty sure them being friends would have been much weirder. a whole lot easier for all parties involved, but weirder, by far. she let her eyebrows travel up her forehead at that, giving him a look that clearly bespoke her objections to that, "both of you could stand to be nicer, a whole lot nicer. i know you guys have it in you." she said, "yeah, at times we can be.." she conceded with effort, though with most girls they were super overtly nice, hard core nice, but it was sicky sweet and so obviously fake it made things seem meaner then had they just full on called you a bitch, "except, were a little more tactful with it, you boys just haul off and half the time make things worse." not that she had any room to talk when it came to controlling her temper. she wasn't getting into fights here like she had been in new york, mostly because she had learned her lesson but she still had a quick temper.
SHE COULDN'T HELP the smirk that tipped her lips, it was really wrong of her, she'd be the first to admit it to anyone but him but it was so amusing. he seemed to recover pretty well, she could see he was in pain most of the morning enough to almost make her feel guilty, but she had proved a pretty good distraction, all ego aside. she smiled a little at his words, it was an oddly sweet thing to say, she guessed. "don't lie, you enjoyed every minute of it. though i think you enjoyed your nap the most." she said with a chuckle, it was weird to her that she'd stayed as he slept it was almost a little ridiculous and proved she liked him too much for her own good. she tried to treat it like a no big deal thing, she had spent the time reading not watching him sleep or anything and she would've been in the student lounge or library reading if she weren't there. she had to admit that both places would have been more boring, she would've forgotten the time wasted there quickly. she blushed a little as she remember when she kissed him to try and distract him from his questions, then after he'd woken up... "a little suffering is good for your health every now and then." she said trying to pull herself from the memories before he could read it on her face, though not sure how well she had managed it, "were i, i highly doubt i'd meet with much opposition." she teased, which probably bespoke as much cockiness as him thinking he could've had her naked by now and if she were being honest he might have gotten pretty damn close. "there is a fine line between optimism and delusion." she teased, before she kissed him lightly.
"YEAH, BUT THAT'S totaly not what i was thinking." she lied, though a little worried how fanatical she was getting about this project, when she was seriously considering working on a dress over spending time with him it was time to admit she had a problem. leah was right, who cares? it was just her mom and nai could've worn anything and still looked amazing. she nodded, "yes, cheating... like hardcore cheating." she leaned away as his breath tickled her neck trying not to laugh, or make it easier for him to use her so called weaknesses against her, "i'm going to remember this." she said trying to look stern and irritated, but it had fizzled out before it met her face. "you know, i do have legs..." she said kicking them for effect, "and it's really crazy cause they are kind of meant for walking." she teased, though he could easily argue that she didn't really walk all that well, he was doing her a favour. which she wouldn't have much of a retort for. "not without getting dropped, i meet the concrete enough on my own accord i don't need to help someone else dump me to the ground, thanks." she quipped with a grin, she hated to admit as mush as him carrying her annoyed her it was a little amusing. "oh like you let me chose leaving?" she teased, playfully elbowing him, "i don't know where you all put it. i really don't. i mean, not gonna lie i can put away a small pizza on a good day, but i'm miserable after." she said with a chuckle, it was another one of thse perks you got with acquiring a y chromosome apparently. "hey, you're not supposed to agree with me," she said, lightly hitting his stomach with the back of her hand at his lame comment. "uhm, never rely on me to make plans?" she returned with a chuckle, "go to disneyland..." she returned, her tone sarcastic as she shook her head, "sorry, i'll try to be serious for a minute and think about it." she said with a chuckle, "the beach?" she ventured, "it's kind of cold, but i don't go in the water anyways and apparently you just have some crazy immunity to the freezing water." she said, remembering the day he'd shown up when she was hanging out. "do you remember that day on the beach?" she asked, a trace of a smile on her face, though she was speaking seriously now. "on my back... the scar, you saw it right?" she asked, keeping her eyes ahead of her.

He grinned, “ unless your into that sort of thing..” he offered with a shrug, kind of disturbing if you thought about it, which is exactly why he didn’t . He rolled his eyes, he really should have been expecting an answer like that, “yeah, yeah… ” was his stunning comeback, its not like he had any room to object, he had said it. He couldn’t help the look that came across his face when she just rattled off a list of names, it surprised him; guns, explosions, and hot female co-star, they were such mans man movies. “ well that explains it..” he said giving a nod, “I figured your dad for a bond guy, but I totally wouldn’t have picked westerns… ” he totally didn’t give out the ‘I watch westerns’ vibe, but then, he was really sure what he should be expecting, the guy to walk around with a cowboy hat and a fact Texan accent? “I’m hoping you don’t share his taste in movies..” he began, “ with exception to the bond ones, of course ” he added, his smile light, teasing, “ I mean, man bashing is one thing, but westerns? ” he shook his head, as far as movies went westerns were right up there in the ‘things I’d never willingly watch’ list along with the notebook, and star trek. “your right, I do wonder that… quite often ” he agreed, giving a laugh, “oh you know you love it, its all part of my charm.. ” he assured her, “if it makes you feel any better, you’re the only one whose even come close.. ” he added, more seriously now, catching her hand briefly and kissing it. Up until he had met her he was sure his confidence was simply indestructible, it had survived many a bitter word with barely a scratch, without even a lingering thought. Back then, there were only two people in the world he had actually cared about, two people who’s opinions actually mattered. But that number had since grown by one. “exactly.. ” he agreed with a grin, “ yes, it is an explanation, but is it the explanation..? ” he responded before he thought better of it, “ sorry” he added, catching the somewhat pained look on her face. He laughed softly, “I’m sure he wouldn’t like it at all.. ” roles reversed, he knew he wouldn’t be happy about it. “but really, that’s half the draw.. ” he admitted, grinning mischievously, as blairs best friend he really should be nicer, and not be going out of his way to annoy the guy, but he really couldn’t help it, it was just in his nature. “you know me too well ” he observed, his grin unrepentant.
“or what? ” he baited, raising a brow, his expression mocking. By now you’d think he’d know better, but there he was again, just inviting retaliation. He laughed, “cant you tell? This is my ‘that’s going to emotionally scar me for life’ face ” he joked, motioning toward his feeble attempt at a serious face, that soon broke into a wide grin. “but what I lack in manners I make up for in…personal hygiene…? ” he offered, laughing, “no caveman would have smelled this good, let me tell you.. ” not that he knew from personal experience of course, but inventions such as soap and deodorant certainly weren’t around back on those days. “why don’t you try telling him that? ” he asked then, changing tactics. Blame it on the other guy, such a boy type move. It wasn’t hard to see exactly why things were always tenuous between them, Ezekiel was as protective of blair as he was with isolde, and them both being recovering manwhores, there was too many similarities for either to feel completely at ease. He gave a sigh, “at least we’re honest, we don’t pretend to like someone even though we really don’t” he pointed out, “ which personally, I think is much crueler… ” he’d rather know straight up then spend weeks, months or even years thinking someone was his friend and then finding out they actually cant stand you.
“the hangover? No, but the company, for sure ” he responded, his mouth curving into a grin. Certainly that morning would have been a lot more pleasant had he not been battling the hangover of hangovers – which he could hardly complain about seeing as it was entirely his own fault – but he had still enjoyed it, thoroughly enjoyed it, simply because of the percentage of time they had spent kissing. “ and although that nap was pretty amazing.. ” he began, mouth tipping, “ I could certainly think of at least one thing that topped it.. ” he added, letting his sentence trail off, she knew exactly what he was talking about, there was no need for him to elaborate. “ a little suffering? ” he asked, a little incredulous, “I’m going to get you back for that, I hope you know.. ” he threatened, he wasn’t exactly sure how yet, but he would think of a way. He raised a brow at her words, and the slight cockiness in her voice, “you wouldn’t… not even going to lie about it.. ” he admitted, grinning, “oh come on, you’ve seen me in my underwear enough times, shouldn’t I at least get the same privilege? ” he asked hopefully.
“uhuh, sure you weren’t.. ” he offered grinning, not even believing her for a moment, it couldn’t be healthy for her to be this obsessive. She needed to get away from it for awhile, and he was going to make sure that that happened whether she liked it or not. “ ah well, I never was one for playing fair..” he teased, his grin devilish, “ I hope you do, I’m doing it for your own good ..” his mouth tipped then, adding, “ and mine, but mostly yours… you’ll thank me one day” he told her, at her next words he gave a laugh, very tempted to reply with exactly the jibe about her clumsiness she was expecting, instead he leg his trail admiringly down her legs, “ and such lovely legs they are too..” he agreed, glancing back at her face, his smile wolfish. He laughed, “if I had let you choose that we’d still be in your room right now, with that quite comfy looking bed of yours.. ” he pointed out, his tone becoming a little suggestive, “ so you see? For you own good.” he added quickly, eying her warily in case she decided to hit him. He shrugged, “ I really don’t know either.” he ate when he was hungry, and he ate until he was full, sometimes more than full, but further than that he really didn’t give it any thought. “ now I’m not supposed to agree? Make up your mind.” he teased, giving an exaggerated sigh. His face fell, “ I thought you we’re being serious, we should go, I’ve never been.. ” he shrugged, “not gonna lie, the beach doesn’t sound as exciting as Disneyland, but I guess it’ll do.. ” he lamented, looking a little forlorn, “how could I forget? ” he asked, a smile lighting up his face again, until her next words, “ yeah… I did” he affirmed, the smile dimming, “ … why?” he asked tentatively, meeting her gaze.

BRIAR SCRUNCHED HER nose in disgust at his words and shuddered a little, "you're disgusting..." she said letting laughter cut her words, "i mean, the mental pictures... ew." it was almost up there with the time that ezekiel had tricked her into watching three seconds of two girls one cup. her smile turned smug at his flippancy and she laughed, "figured that would shut you up..." she said as her smile turned into a smirk, it was the same response she usually gave every time her dad used it on her, or when she used it on her brother. "yeah, he's always watching the reruns of bonanza and stuff, some he's had to have seen more then ten times because i know i have..." she said shaking her head, she never got the way some people could sit through the same shows or movies millions of times, she loved the notebook and memoirs of a geisha but she couldn't watch them more then once every couple of months, there was such thing as too much of a good thing. her dad was nearly obsessive with westerns, "he enjoys the bond movies more though, except we both kind of hate the new ones, daniel craig just doesn't say james bond to me, but of course no one can touch connery's james bond..." a slight tint took her cheeks, "wow, i totally just geeked out on you, sorry." she said shaking her head, she rolled her eyes, "i hate his westerns, but i watch them with him when he asks..." a lot of it was making up for the few years where she was convinced he was the scum of the earth, some of her was hoping that by watching those stupid movies with him she'd get back more of the relationship they once had, when she was a total daddy's girl. she tried to feign shock, "i'm plenty nice to you, the fact you get to touch me without being kneed is proof enough alone." she teased, since coming here, this was the farthest any guy had gotten with her outside of truth or dare kisses, there were plenty of hot guys around town and the school, but none of them had anything but their faces. she still wasn't even quite sure what drew her to tav so much. she nodded, "yeah, a little." she said with a chuckle. she dropped her gaze briefly from his, trying to bury the emotions before he could see them but she wasn't sure if she was quick enough, obviously not she looked up at his apology and for the millionth time she put it off, "later?" she said, even though this had been her excuse for months now, "for real this time..." she said, exhaling a shallow breath, you just couldn't things like that off forever but lord knows she wanted to try. she gave him a slightly reproachful look, there may not have been hardcore animosity between him and ezekiel just both of them looking out for the girls in their lives they felt they had to protect (and some jealousy in ezekiel's case) but she still didn't like it. "i hate when you two act like that..." she said, shaking her head a little, though she was pretty much resigned it was never going to change.
BRIAR RAISED HER eyebrows to the challenge, smirking, "you really want to go there?" she asked, though too much amusement in her eyes to seem any kind of serious. she shook her head to his question, it was a horribly assembled look that soon broke into one of those grins she just couldn't resist and she laughed, "that's kind of sexy, i might have to scar you for life more often..." she said, an impish smile coming across her face. she joined in with his laughter at his words, yeah, only him or probably her brother would have thought of something like that, it wasn’t the greatest comeback but it was decent enough, she shook her head at him, "yeah, i guess you‘re right." it was far, far from where she had been going with the analogy but he was right. "don‘t you think i have?" she said, a brow arching, "both of you are ridiculously hardheaded…" she still smiled up at him though, "it‘s really getting old, two people shouldn‘t allowed to be this impossible." she nodded at his next statements she had to give him that, even she’d pulled the whole i’m pretending to be your friend thing, she’d never kept it up for long, just long enough until she was sure she could end things without it getting too messy. "but not every girl plays those kind of games, it seems that every guy is just ready to kick some ones ass at a drop of a hat. and half the time it seems like it is over the stupidest things in the world." she countered though she wasn’t sure this was an argument she really wanted to get into. "everyone does stupid things, though. male and female." she said in an attempt to stop things before things got out of hand - which conversations like that frequently did, "though," she began with a teasing smile, "we both know which group does the more stupid things." she teased with a light laugh.
THE BRUNETTE SMILED, she had enjoyed that morning very much too, it was the turning point for her where she realized she was just looking like an idiot trying to deny she liked him as anything more then a friend, a friend that she spent most of her time kissing. she blushed at his words, pulling her gaze from his letting it rest on the window, yeah, it was hard to forget the too intense kisses. the kisses that were fun and exciting but also scared her a little and made her worry that if things had gotten too much more out of hand if she would have been able to stop herself. which kind of made her feel like a thirteen year old again, when her mother had sat her down for the official sex talk, all of her moms stories about guys just using you had surfaced, but she was pretty sure since then been doing... whatever this was for about a year that if he were just in it to get her naked he would have given up a long time ago, unless he was that determined, but mostly he just seemed like the type to get bored with the chase if it dragged on too long. still it brought her back to cooper, who'd just taken to bedding her friends while still pressuring her for sex. she looked back to him at his words a small smile, nodding at his incredulity, she smirked and snorted at the latter part, "oh, i'm simply terrified, can't you tell?" she returned her words heavy with sarcasm, though she was pretty sure that wasn't something she should be challenging, he was pretty devious, who knew what he'd think of, though she was pretty sure it couldn't have been anything too horrible. "you're right; i have..." she agreed, an amused smile turning her lips, "but, it's not my fault you don't know how to keep your clothes on." she teased with a laugh, leaning her head against his chest for a moment, before she looked up at him, "besides, you've seen me in a bikini. that'll just have to do it for you." she taunted, draping her arms around his neck, or rather his shoulders since that was as about as much as her height would allow.
"YOU COULDN'T EVENpretend for like, a minute that i was even the least bit convincing?" she asked, feigning exasperation with him, on a normal day it was honestly no competition about what she'd rather be doing. she loved sewing and everything, it was what she was best at, she was smart but her brother still outshone her in all subjects though she might have been a little better at english, but even then it was pretty close. she was too clumsy to safely play sports, she wasn't as worried about herself as she was the other people, half the time she hurt them more then she hurt herself. sewing was hers, she was excellent at it... at least among her friends, her mom outshone her, since she was a real full fledged designer, but some of the designers briar had gotten to meet through her mother had assured she'd be just as good if not better, which she was pretty sure they were just saying to be nice. "yeah, i‘ve noticed." she returned, shaking her head, "mostly for yourself, i think." she teased, running a hand through her hair and then rolling her eyes at the clichéd words, "well, don't hold your breath," she said though she was pretty sure that he was right, once the dress was all done and the wedding was over, she'd probably look back at the few times she'd managed to be pulled away from the dress and be grateful. she was still way too stressed now to consider it and it was easier just being irritated with the distractions. she looked up at his words, momentarily confused, why wouldn't he rather be alone in her room with her with , yes, a very comfy bed. she wasn't going to question it though, and she nodded to his words, "i'm not sure i'm following your reasoning," she admitted with a laugh, "but okay..." she laughed a little, "you'll figure out when you're supposed to and not supposed to eventually. " she said knowingly with a smirk before she continued, "though as a general rule self-deprecation should never ever be agreed to." she informed him, laughing a little. "you haven't lived until you've been to disneyland." she said, so, it was a stretch but who cares? she was a fan of knotts and six flags, no problem but she had always preferred disneyland, even now at seventeen, call her a child. "it's hard to forget the badass way i tackled you..." she recalled with a grin, it was possibly the only time being so clumsy had ever worked so fabulously in her favour, of course she'd never own to it being an accident. she bit her lip for a moment before she answered, "because for months i've been telling you i'd tell you about me and my mom and i never do..." she admitted, dropping her gaze t the sidewalk in front of her.
AFTER A MOMENT, she drew her gaze back up, "when my parents first split up, my mom... she... she told me and blaine that my dad had been cheating, and it kind of made sense because he wasn't home a lot in the last few months before she told us," she started, furrowing her brows a little, "so, we moved with her, and she moved in with my step-dad almost immediately and we sort of got along, but we always really got on each others nerves more, we both had pretty volatile tempers." she shook her head, "well, i found out that my mom was lying about my dad and i started a fight with her, of course. and well cristian tried to step in and things got crazy and blaine is trying to calm me down and it was totally working for like a minute until cristian just freaks out again and yells at me and cause when i'm that mad i have no sense of self-preservation i let into him." she admitted, shaking her head at her idiocy, "well, he didn't take it well and... he slapped me. which honestly wouldn't have phased it just pissed me off more but he hit me hard and i fell into this vase thing my mom had on the terrace and it my fat ass broke it..." her last words were light, and she tried to add a little laugh, "but, uh, i probably could've let it go, people do crazy stuff when their mad and i get it; i was in the wrong, i was being a total raging bitch but my mom..." she shook her head, "my mom took his side, and when we went to the emergency room she just played it off like it was just another typical visit because i'm such an incurable klutz." she dropped her gaze back to the concrete, worrying her lip, "so, that's why i'm less then thrilled to see them." she'd talked more then she'd planned and she felt a little silly after all the words, but she also felt a little better, it wasn't something she talked about. ever. she looked up at him, trying to keep any sadness from her face, it was kind of depressing when your mom chose her skeezy husband over you but she'd come to terms with it - sort of. she offered him a soft "i'm cool with it" smile, "i fell like i totally just killed the mood, so to speak." she said her tone light as she laughed a little, drawing a hand though her mahogany curls.

He grinned at her reaction , “ hey, I was just saying…besides, you’re the one who brought it up” he pointed out, chuckling lightly. He laughed, and shook his head,“ honestly? I could think of better ways..” he responded, smirking. It wasn’t much of a stretch for her to see where he was going with that either, his mind could be rather one tracked. “only ten times? ” he teased, laughing at the look on her face. “don’t be sorry, im used to it, and at least its about something interesting..” unlike other girls who would ramble on forever about some guy in some movie that he’d never seen and never intended to see. Of course, if they were pretty enough, he would obligingly pretend like he was listening. “I have to agree though, I didn’t like the blonde guy either…” he offered with a shrug. He laughed, “this is very true… ” he conceded, amused, it was that fact alone that cancelled out the constant and continual swipes she made at his ego, “ and believe me, I feel privileged to be the exception..” he added, completely serious despite the slight smile on his face, “ I really don’t like idea of not being able to do this with you..” he said, kissing her lightly. “later ” he agreed with a faint smile, at this rate he’d be old and grey before he even found out. But he wasn’t about the push the subject, as curious as he was, it just wasn’t in his nature to pry. Plus he figured it had to be something rather serious, more than a few times he’d seen his female friends fall out with their parents over petty things, but Briar didn’t strike him as the type to do that. “ act like what?” he asked, feigning innocence, though by the look he got in return she was obviously unimpressed.
He glanced at her sidelong, dubious, “ yeah… no I don’t think I do actually ” he responded, considering that it didn’t really make him less manly to have a healthy fear of the pint sized brunette, maybe a little, but not much. After all, he definitely wasn’t the only one. Call him crazy, but it was one of the traits he liked in her, that total independence. It was sexy. “ sadist. ” he teased in return to the scaring him for life more often comment. He laughed, “come on, don’t you think your exaggerating here just a little?” he asked, grinning, “if I really wanted to be impossible I wouldn’t be nice to him at all.. ” gazing down at her for a moment, he gave a sigh, “ I’ll try, really, I will… just for you, alright?” after all, its not like he saw the guy that much, with him being in new york and all, it really wouldn’t be a stretch to be a little friendlier. “ that’s because its easier, and we don’t have to talk about our feelings and stuff like you girls do… plus, I find it much more effective” he said, giving a shrug, it wasn’t the first time he’d heard it, and it probably wouldn’t be the last, there really wasn’t much use arguing about it, he’d lose, he knew he would. “yeah.. we do ” he conceded, mouth tipping, “but that’s what we have you girls for right? To let us know when were being stupid? ” he asked with a grin, “ whether or not we listen though, is a different matter entirely”
“ oh definitely, that note of sarcasm just gives you away completely..” he responded, his grin switching from teasing to devious, “ I don’t blame you though, If I was you I’d be scared too..” he offered in an ominous tone, though it was kind of undermined by the smile on his face. She didn’t really have much to worry about, when it came to her he couldn’t bring himself to unleash the kind of mischief he was renowned for back home. Not because he didn’t think she could take it, if anyone could it was briar, it was probably more to do with what she might do in retaliation. He’d heard enough stories by now to know that her brother was some kind of evil genius, and definitely not one to be underestimated. “I don’t hear anyone complaining… ” he offered with a shrug, in fact the only major objections came from isolde, but mostly because he could get away with running around in boxers while she was freezing her ass off. At her next words he couldn’t help but pout slightly, “.. in that case, I think we definitely need to go swimming more often.. ” he suggested then, mood brightening.
“ it was a valiant effort, I give you that.. ” he offered with a grin. “but it wasn’t even a little bit convincing im afraid, perhaps you should work on that? ” he mocked, completely unserious, “ don’t worry though, I wont hold it against you..” he added, his smile broadening at the look on her face. To he teasing he laugh, “alright, mostly for myself, I figure it’s the only way to get your undivided attention ” he taunted. Glancing across he caught the look on confusion that flashed across her face, but he didn’t elaborate, “ I’ll be sure to keep that in mind..” he responded with a brief grin, “ does that mean, im like… dead?” he teased, amused, “pshh.. I totally let you catch up with me.. it was all part of my plan you see.. ” he lied, the letting her catch him part had meant to come later, but he had underestimated her, not that he was complaining, he couldn’t say he had any objection to a beautiful girl tackling him to the ground. He was surprised by her next words, and curios, he glanced across at her, waiting. More than a few times he’d wondered what the deal was between her and her mother, and her and her step father, and as many times as she’d promised to tell him, he’d kind of doubted whether she ever actually would. Obviously it was something that wasn’t easy to talk about, and when she had finished, he could see why. He tried to rouse a smile, but found himself frowning instead, he didn’t have the best relationship with his mom, but he knew if it came down to him and his dad, he’d come first, always. The whole thing made him angry, more angry than he probably should be considering, but he couldn’t help it. Reaching for her hand he gave it a squeeze, offering simply “ are you sure you wont reconsider my offer to kick his ass? ” he asked, his tone a good deal less playful than it had been earlier, “ it might do him good?” he offered, catching her look, “ I don’t care what his reasons were, its inexcusable and- ” he paused, studying her face, and seeing clearly she’d rather not keep talking about it, not that he could blame her. “ so Disneyland.” he began abruptly, in a rather unsubtle change of subject, “ when are we going?” he asked, rousing a smile.

BRIAR LAUGHED AND rolled her eyes, "hmm and i do wonder where your reasoning would take us." she commented, dryly, smirking a little. boys weren't that complex, sometimes they did do things that threw you for a loop but generally it didn't take all that much to figure them out, which whatever she wasn't complaining about. except all roads leading to sex got a little tiresome, even when you had the mind of a fourteen year old boy yourself. at least he left more things to the imagination, though the devilish look on his face and the expression of his eyes he might as well have come out and said it. "hey, it's horrible." no lie she'd rather sit through a hannah montana marathon then have to watch the same episodes of bonanza, but her dad had this pretty little talent of making her feel guilty, without even really saying anything, a nifty trick he'd passed on to her and blaine, unfortunately he hadn't thought to pass down the immunity to it. no excuse could pull her away from the tv with him with the exception of her schoolwork, which was the only time he never employed it. when you said no, he got the most pathetic look on his face and pulled out a dejected tone, "oh, okay, i understand." and suddenly you felt like a horrible person and you had to sit and watch bonanza or a fistuful of dollars with him. she smirked, "and how many times lindsay lohan has checked in and out of rehab isn't interesting? or how many pieces of clothing miley didn't wear, that's not interesting?" she teased, with a chuckle, she couldn't lie and say she hadn't fallen into the stupid celebrity gossip herself, but she'd never been able to sit and dissect the most trivial things. bri grinned at his words, she was just now realizing that it was almost completely impossible for her to not smile when she was with him, it was also seemingly impossible to get her stomach to stay calm every time he kissed, no matter how brief they were. she nodded her agreement, dropping her gaze from his face for a moment before she spoke, "i don't like that idea either," she also didn't like the idea of finally being out with what happened between her and her mother and step-dad. as much as ezekiel stressed it was a good idea to talk about it she hadn't been traumatized by it really, she just refused to speak to her mother with any sort of civility unless forced by her brother or father. she could tell he didn't fully believe that she'd tell him this time around and she didn't blame him, she wouldn't believe herself either after all this time. she wasn't even going to touch his question because he was just being a pain in the ass and she raised an eyebrow at him and shook her head.
A SMIRK TRAILED over her lips before she laughed a little at his words, yeah, it was kind of great to be that badass, except she was pretty sure her brother enjoyed it more then she did. it had made his job easier, there were only a few guys dumb enough to try and mess with her even knowing she'd be able to take them out, they learned quickly though. "and people say you are just a pretty face..." she teased, grinning a little, "you're too fun to tease, i'm sorry." with ezekiel gone and less frequent contact with him she needed someone else to tease, her brother had already caught a lot more then normal, it was only a matter of time before she started teasing tav a little more here and there. "oh, you know it." she said after he called her a sadist, "but you love me, so there." she said with a laugh, running a hand through her hair. she gazed up at him, not quite frowning but not quite smiling either as he tried to justify his and ezekiel's less then friendly behaviour, she didn't answer him either. she kept her face straight until he sighed and she grinned, wider so when he conceded, yeah, she was pretty fantastic. "thank you." she said a little proud of herself as she stood on her tip toes to kiss him lightly. "violence isn't the answer," she said managing to say serious for all of three seconds before the hilarity of someone like her saying that kicked in and she had shake her head, "at least, not all the time." she nodded to his questions, she was always more then willing to point out their follies, she opened her mouth to speak but he'd taken her next words from her mouth, "i was just about to say that, actually. you guys are horrible listeners."
"GOOD, I WAS you'd catch that actually." she quipped, crossing her arms over her stomach, laughing a little at his next words, "oh, you're truly frightening." she was pretty sure he wouldn't do anything but if he were she'd be able to get him back that much worse. having some kind of evil genius for a brother got really handing when it came to pranking they'd gotten away with some big ones, always managing to stay out of trouble, constantly being pulled aside by teachers or principals or their parents, "we know you did this, but we can't prove it, don't let it happen again." it was kind of great. "you won't hear me complaining either," she began with a smile, "but it's not going to get you any closer to seeing me in my underwear." her smile turned impish, "besides i'm sure you have a good imagination." she said tilting her head a little, before she chuckled. she snorted at his next words though, "oh because we always have the perfect weather to go swimming?" she asked incredulously, she was a california girl through and through anything below 85 was nearly freezing which was what had made washington so miserable when she'd first moved here apart from being away from her brother, her cold tolerance had only gotten a little stronger, but it wasn't up there with his, "you're nuts, kid, sorry i didn't grow up in antarctica."
ROLLING HER EYES, she stuck her tongue out at him, very much aware that she was indeed the picture of maturity as she did it, "how so very kind of you." she returned heavy on the sarcasm as she nearly took to pouting. she laughed a little but hating to admit it was true, he was very diverting and she was pretty sure she'd have taken plenty of time away from the dress but they'd still be in the same room and she'd be pulled back to it eventually, unless of course he'd kept kissing her like he had earlier, which made her stomach do a weird rolling motion still as she only thought of it. " hmm, i think so. well, aren't you a medical miracle." she said in response to his question, her smile teasing. briar raised an eyebrow at his next words, "oh, ho, ho whatever!" she exclaimed, laughing as she nudged him in the side, "you're such a liar!" she'd love to act like she'd tackled him on purpose, but it was only her clumsiness somehow working in her favour, but either way there was no "letting" her involved. she worried her lip for a moment, seeing the anger flash across his eyes, the same anger she'd seen with zeek when she'd told him what had happened and she remembered why she'd put it off so much, because she knew how similar they were, he'd want to fuck her step-dad up to. not that she blamed him. she'd love to get her hands on him now. if it weren't for her falling into that stupid pot and getting all woozy at the sight of her blood and having blaine practically holding her done she probably would've done something that night. she smiled a little at his offer, he didn't know how tempting it was, but it also didn't seem worth it at this point. so she shook her head, if anyone were going to get their hands on him it was going to be her. she didn't do people fighting her battles, which was one thing that constantly got between her and zeek who always wanted to play hero, sometimes the offer was just good enough. she bit her lip a little as he continued, looking up as he stopped and smiling a little, "thank you." she said lightly, it was for offering to kick her step-dads ass as well as moving on quickly though she knew it had to be hard, it would've been hard for her tables turned but she still didn't want to have to talk about more then she really had to. she chuckled a little as she leaned into his side, "how about we just tackle the beach for now?" she said looking up at him, she could smell the ocean clearer now as it carried on the light breeze, could hear the waves a little, "plus, you shouldn't tempt me." she said, smiling a little, "i love disneyland, i'd go just about anytime. the best time to go is during the week though, two hour lines suddenly take twenty minutes." she said with a brief laugh, it always pissed her mom off but bri's dad had always pulled the twins out of school to take them going on the weekends just weren't as fun when you spent eighty five percent of your time waiting in the longest line in the world. she let her gaze drift to the grey sand that had come in to view and she wasn't surprised that there were barely any people there, this beach was mainly accessed by the residents of the housing track they lived in but as briar had pointed out earlier they never really had any real beach weather, the sun may have been shining today but it still only brought out the most dedicated of surfers. They barely made it to the sand before she stopped and used his arm to balance herself as she slipped out of her shoes, "are you going to impress me with your ability to swim in freezing water again? or maybe i get to tackle you again?" she quipped as she walked backwards so she could face him for a moment before she continued down the beach for a few more feet until she dropped her shoes. she'd made a small step time before last she'd been here with him actually managing to stand in the water as it went above her waist and she found that after a few minutes it didn't feel cold anymore because you just didn't feel anything but she still dreaded the initial shock of water.

He raised a brow, trying to look convincingly offended by the insinuation, but there really wasn’t much point, instead he grinned, “ got me all figured out, don’t you? ” he murmured silkily, holding her gaze for a long moment, his expression enigmatic, before smiling broadly, “I think my reasoning could take us amazing places… just saying. ” he added, the curve of his lips as he smiled then faintly taunting. He laughed, trying to work up a little sympathy, its not like he hadn’t been guilted into watching things before, “I’ll have to take your word for it… obviously its not a genre I often indulge in… ” he paused, “or at all really.. ” he added then, giving a light laugh. He shook his head at her question, “oh its riveting, for sure.. ” he offered sarcastically, “miley, that’s the girl ise doesn’t like … ” he commented absently, before making a face, “personally I’d prefer she kept her clothes on ” he added, shaking his head again, he didn’t have anything against the girl, or at least he didn’t until his younger sister had become her number one fan, something he was, understandably, not exactly thrilled about. The fact that she knew off by heart her routine from the teen choice awards was kind of horrifying, five year olds should not know how to dance like that, it wasn’t right. Her words brought a smile to his lips, and wordlessly he reached up, touching her affectionately on the chin before tipping her face upward, “ lucky me.. ” he offered softly, smirking faintly before lowering his mouth to hers and kissing her deeply.
He shook his head, and laughed, “I really don’t think your that sorry at all.. ” he offered candidly, his expression taunting. He didn’t mind it really, at first, before he really knew her, sometimes her insults would slip past his ego and actually sting him a little, even now there were the rare times that she managed. Mostly though he was used to her sarcasm, used to the constant digs, and they didn’t faze him, good naturedly however he’d entertain her, and at least make a show of being insulted. He shook his head, amused, “amazingly I do… so what does that say about me? ” he asked, gazing at her quizzically for a moment before laughing. He ignored the triumphant expression on her face, already starting to rethink it, the kiss however was a convenient distraction, as was the words that came after it. He pressed his lips together, trying not to laugh, but it was hard not to, instead he raised a brow at her, “just.. most of the time? ” he taunted, cocking his head to one side and smiling broadly. “oh hey… ” he objected, “ I listen…. ” he added, his grin turning mischievous, “ sometimes. ”
“I am.. ” he insisted, ignoring her obvious sarcasm, “ at least, you know, to people who aren’t renowned manbashers.. ” he teased, chuckling, “ but its alright, I’m not looking to scare you away.. ” he added, smiling. He shook his head, it wasn’t nice of her to bait him like that, it was just inviting him to say something stupid, and he really shouldn’t be held responsible for obliging, “now see, the trouble is, stopping at the underwear… ” he offered, rather candidly, a sudden intensity in his gaze before he smiled widely, ready to dodge the hit he figured was coming. At her question he flashed a wide grin, personally the weather was actually pretty mild, but he’d spent most of his life in this sort of climate, he’d acclimatized , and a mild case of hypothermia when he was younger had taught him the valuable different between being cold, and being cold, “hot tubbing? ” he suggested, ginning hopefully.
He chuckled at her actions, “ how so very mature of you.. ” he returned, his smile teasing, not like he had room to talk, he was hardly a picture of maturity, in fact, he was quite the opposite. Coming here had helped, not a much as his mom was hoping it would, but it had definitely helped. He was a guy after all, you couldn’t expect miracles, “ see? Not even denying it.. ” his face fell a little, “ upstaged by a dress, this is a sad day for me… very sad. ” he added melodramatically, before laughing. “ a miracle alright.. ” he joked, grinning at her look, “ you said it. ” he pointed out, “I was just agreeing. ” he added smugly, knowing full well it was pretty much the same line she’d used back at her house. He offered her a look of complete innocence, “ me? Lie? I don’t like what your implying here ” he added haughtily, before relenting, “alright… so maybe I underestimated you, a little, though knowing you better I’m surprised you manage to run so far without falling on your face.. ” oh yeah, that was probably going to earn him a hit, “ I was kidding.. kind of? ” he added quickly, flashing a don’t-hit-me smile. He offered a shrug at her thankyou, and a smile, but didn’t respond further than that, he figured it was the best way to avoid bringing up the subject again, if she didn’t want to talk about it, he would respect that. He gave an exaggerated sigh, wrapping his arm around her as she leaned against him and resting his hand lightly on her hip, “ if you insist... ” he responded, feigning disappointment, at her next words he offered her a knowing grin, “ cutting school huh? ” he teased, chuckling, “ we should definitely go sometime though.. ” he added, “since you’ve already been so you can show me all the best rides.. ” he figured trying to navigate the place on his own would get him horribly lost, he’d always had a particularly terrible sense of direction, of course like any man, he’d never actually admit to it. Her taunting made him grin, “ perhaps a little of both? ” he offered, eyeing her mischievously, he took the few moments she had her back turned to him to catch up and grab her around the waist, “ of course, I’m always open to suggestions.. ” he said in a low voice, pressing a kiss to her cheek.

BRIAR WAS, UNSURPRISINGLY, completely unmoved by his attempt to look offended, he - as were most boys - was pretty one track minded, it didn't take a rocket scientist. bri barely smirked, "indeed, i do." her smile turned almost smug as he held his gaze, absently taking her bottom lip between her teeth when he smiled, she laughed easily at his words, shaking her head and keeping a blush at bay, yeah, of course he'd say that and of course she'd low key agree with him. "i think we both know you're opinion of yourself is just not be trusted. sorry." she said with a shrug, before she let a grin spread over her face, and her expression grew softer, "you never know, i might be crazy enough to listen to you one day..." she teased, her smirk coming back. "we should change that," she said pulling on a fairly convincing serious expression, "you know, i think you and my dad could use some quality time..." she arched her brow, trying to hold back the laughter at the look on his face. she wasn't serious, as if she really ever was though she was nowhere near as bad as her brother, her dad may not have been the last person on the planet she wanted him to hang out with - no, that was probably her mother or step-father - but she'd still prefer to keep him and her dad as separate as she could get away with. "you should see your face right now, it's kind of priceless." she chuckled a little at him, running a hand through her thick curls and shook her head. briar scrunched her nose, "you and me both, i don't get the fascination, but then again i've never done that intense hero obsession since like, the spice girls." she joked, like several of her friends she wasn't exactly a fan of miley, some of it she was sure simply through jealousy alone, briar just didn't get why the held the teenager up as the second coming when she was a crappy actress and worse singer. not that the spice girls were really much better in comparison, probably a little worse, but her niece wasn't looking up to the spice girls and trying to be exactly like them. the edges of briars lip's turned up to match his, that ridiculously giddy feeling that filled her when she was with him sometimes coming back, it was kind of crazy. a little irritating even, she didn't like the kind of control he seemed to have over her. the skin under his finger tingled slightly and her smile widened a little bit before his lips were pressed against hers, her lips tingled and her stomach did a funny little flip flop and she smiled against his lips.
A GIGGLE ESCAPED her lips at his words, trying to feign shock at the accusation, but failing pretty hard. sure, if she were so sorry she'd have stopped picking on him and probably ezekiel too, but like she said he was almost too fun to tease. she's noticed it hwas harder to get any sort of a glimmer of a reaction, because she'd pretty much undermined every jab she'd made at his ego with her stupid blushes, with every kiss. like she tried to play offended, she knew he played up his reactions too. "i resent that accusation, thank you very much." it was hard to act properly offended when laughter laced through her words. "good question," she returned with an amuse smiled, "next time you complain though i'm going to remind you of how much you must like the abuse since you stick around for it." she teased, pulling a hand through her hair. "sometimes it's the only thing that keeps you silly boys in line." she teased, with a chuckle, ezekiel's argument had always been that hitting him upside the head was only going to cause brain damage making him all the worse, he might have had a point, but she certainly wasn't going to agree with him, and honestly she never hit him that hard, she knew that sometimes she'd hit hared then she expected or planned but she'd never hit that hard. briar raised a brow at his words, grinning when he back-pedalled a little, "when it's about cars, sex or video games." she teased, drawing a finger across his cheek affectionately, "I'm kidding, most of you listen better then that.."
BRIAR SIGHED, SHAKING her head, eyebrows knitting, "i'm not a manbasher, good lord, my brother has been trying to convince people of that for years." his words went a long way to help squelch the irritation she had felt towards her brothers favourite nickname, it wasn't overly sappy or anything but they were kind of sweet, she just smiled back, "good." she said simply. predictably and annoyingly strawberry flooded her cheeks, yeah, she'd stepped right into that one, she'd given him an engraved invitation to say something like that. something she should've seen before she said that, why did her mind choose to stay out of the gutter with that one? she may have set him up for that one quite nicely but it still didn't stop her from punching him lightly in the shoulder, "just.. no." she said, shaking her head, keeping her gaze from his face and the satisfied smirk she was sure to find resting there, why couldn't he have given her such perfect lead ins like that? "with an indoor hot tub?" she suggested, yeah a hot tub kind of solved the dilemma but there was still the whole a long few minutes you'd be outside in the cold outside of the warm water. "i've been trying to convince my dad for ages to get a hot tub and connect it to the house, it'd be pretty amazing." she said with a small smile.
"HEY NOW, YOU don't have all that much room to talk. " she wasn't the expert when it came to maturity either but she was a little better then her brother, and by far better then tav, though she couldn't lie and say she hadn't seen some improvement. briar laughed a little at his theatrics, not only was the dress important because her mom was going to be seeing it, ready to critique but it was also a job and briars test to herself, "i'd choose you over a wedding dress any day... when i wasn't being paid for said dress." she teased, nudging him with her elbow. she chose to ignore him as he twisted her earlier words to fit his, merely rolling her eyes before laughing at him trying to act affronted, "only because you know it's true..." before his next words drew her up short, what an ass. who cares that it was true and who cares that it took a lot of focus of what her legs were doing and the way her feet hit the dark sand to make sure she hadn't fallen until he'd distracted her and she'd ended up falling anyways, it so wasn't cool of him to call her out on her clumsiness. she hit him in the stomach with the back of her hand, half heartedly, "hey, be nice, jerk." she laughed a little, "yeah, but it's the only time to go were you aren't stuck in lines for hours." she said with a shrug and it wasn't like one day of school was going to through a person so ridiculously far behind. "splash mountain, of course." she giggled a little as he came up behind her, resting her hands on his crossed arms in front of her, smile growing wider as his lips brushed her cheek, she chewed on her lip for a moment before she easily turned in his arms and grinning up at him, her expression impish, "you know," she began, trying to stop a blush from forming on her cheeks, "today just might be your lucky day..." she continued, regarding his expression for a moment before she continued, greatly amused, "in your haste to spirit me away from my really important job, with absolutely no foresight we have no proper swimming attire..." she continued, before she tilted her head, "now, i think you've done this on purpose cus i'm not playing in the water in my shirt and jeans, thanks i'd rather not drown, so that leaves only one other option aside from skinny dipping and i'm not that crazy nor are you that lucky," she said, there had been many times her and leah had to resort to going in the water in their underwear, sometimes briar preferred it, underwear seemed to stay in place better then most bathing suits. __________________ TAG , tav a.k.a affyyy.<3 WORD COUNT , 1456 CLOTHES , i stopped being lazy. -_- LYRICS , ke$ha "kiss n tell" NOTES , , not gonna lie, i've totally done that.
