As a general rule Valentines Day kind of made him want to barf, though to a guy like him any holiday about love was one you wanted to completely erase from the face of the Earth. It was all about talking about your feelings and making sure you got the right gift, girls wanted you to tell them that you loved them and be with them forever and go out to nice place and fuck, it was all too much work. He was always conveniently sick or he had some other engagement with his parents, at least when his used the parents excuse it wasn't a lie. Valentine's Day was always busy, it fell on a weekend again which made it extra busy, his mother was planning by herself or helping plan three major ones alone, Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoon evening. Normally he was breaking his neck to get out of it, this year he was breaking his neck trying to get home in time for Valentines Day. It was almost a complete 360. It shouldn't have been such a hard thing to get back home, yes, he was going to have to miss one class but with most professors you could go to them and say "I can't be here this day, can I email you the work." They said yes and you were on your merry way. Of course this was true if you weren't a 350 year old Philosophy professor with a stick up your ass. It was one class and he'd never missed a one of her classes, even though they were on Saturdays. He had an A and he's offered to turn in his paper early and everything. His only option of getting out of class was meeting with her after all her classes that day to turn in his paper by hand. Which completely defeated the purpose of him getting out of the class. He wanted to be in Washington Saturday morning. However in two weeks he could not convince her to let him miss Saturday's class and he sat in the back sulking the whole time, glaring down at her and growing more sullen with every almost smug smile she got every time she caught his glare. What a cow.
What was even worse is that, of course, by the time she'd delivered her final decision he'd been stuck with slim choices for a flight out. He just barely got a coach seat on one of the last flights out of JFK to Sea-Tac, and it got better when he tried to purchase his return ticket. One seat on a plane that flew out a little after noon, it sucked but it was better then nothing. Or at east that's what he was trying to convince himself as he had rushed to the airport - as much as you could rush in the city. He was not letting his mother know he was in town because immediately she'd be roping him into one thing or another, no matter how limited his time was, she came first in everyone's lives. No matter what. He let his sister know simply because she wouldn't tell and he needed someone to do reconnaissance that could dig for information from his mom about the schedule and attendants of all the big Valentine's Day events without it looking odd or alerting her to his plans of stopping by. Bri or Leah showing up would've been weird, her attachment to them and their families stretched no further then Ezekiel's friendship with them, though she had a stronger attachment to Briar's family, simply because of the business ties Zeek's dad had with Bri's.
Through Bella he'd learned that Ise had managed to get out of one of the dinner parties, complaining she was sick and he was hoping that she was just faking. Though considering all the luck he'd had so far he wouldn't have been surprised if she really were. The universe was just an asshole like that, it never cooperated when you were trying to plan a surprise. As he stepped out of his car he let his eyes sweep the house, her light and a few others were on in the house, but his eyes lingered on the tree outside of her window and he grinned remembering the night they'd first gotten a chance to hang out one on one, the night when he'd kissed her in McDonalds ball pit, which was really as far from romantic as you could get. Knocking on the door he smiled as a middle aged maid answered the door, asking for her the woman told him that she was not feeling well but he waved it away and asked she not tell Isolde that he was here, instead he stepped in as she stepped back and headed up the stairs to Isolde's room. He ran a hand over his messy hair before he stepped onto the landing and walked towards her room, leaning lazily in the door way he smiled, You don't look very sick... He said, grinning as she looked up at him, Surprise.

Valentines had never been more than yet another date on her social calendar, and this year wasn’t looking to be any different. Not that she cared that much, as a whole, it wasn’t the kind of thing she was that into, mainly because it had become so commercialized. It was all about buying this, or buying that, like spending money insane amount of money on your girlfriend was the only way to make her happy. It had its upsides certainly, reminding men to stop being lazy asses for one day and do something nice for their girl being one of them. But it was the florists and jewelers that benefited most. It was even harder than usual to pretend to be enthusiastic about it, especially with a boyfriend half a country away and slim to no chance he would be making it home. She was quite aware that he had class on saturdays, since he rarely passed up an opportunity to bitch about it, and that the professor was super strict, so she didn’t hold out much hope for him getting out of it. Not that she really expected that. It would be nice of course, because she missed him, but it wasn’t the end of the world.
Still it was hard not to be a little bitter over the situation, or act legitimately happy while other girls rambled on about what they were doing for valentines, and they did like to go on. Harder still to listen patiently while they fretted about whether their boyfriend was going to buy them the right necklace, or something else equally as petty and inconsequential. She was a little ashamed that she’d lost her cool more than once in the past week, and pointed out, more angrily than anyone would ever have expected of her, that at least their boyfriend was here and that they should be grateful for that. She hated that it was affecting her like this, making her moody and bitchy and oversensitive. Most of which she took out upon theo, who found it simply hilarious, and her mom, who was a lot less tolerant. It had almost worked in her favor, her mother forbidding her not to go anywhere meant she wouldn’t have to endure the weekends festivities. Something she definitely wasn’t looking forward to. But unluckily she quickly came to her senses, and allowed her ‘permission’ to attend, as though she were doing her a favor.
Up until thirty minutes prior to leaving she had every intention of going, had endured all the meticulous primping that went along with, and done it with a smile on her face. It wasn’t until her dad arrived home – a week early – that she had a sudden change of heart, watching them together was depressing enough, the dinner would be at least fifty times worse. Of course they both saw through her ‘I feel sick’ excuse straight away, she was a horrible liar. But it was only a half lie. She didn’t actually feel all that great, thanks to one to many chocolates earlier, but they didn’t know that. Thankfully her dad, who had probably guessed her reasons for not wanting to go, interceded before her mother could get hostile about it. In seventeen years they had never managed to strike that almost telepathic understanding like most mother daughters, instead it was left up to her dad to be the intuitive one, something that, thankfully, he was pretty exceptional at. It was easy to see her mother was less than happy, she made no attempt to hide that fact, throwing her annoyed looks as she headed upstairs to her room, and again when she returned, trying to make her feel bad for backing out last moment. But she didn’t feel guilty about it; in fact, in the past few months she had graciously done everything her mother required of her, and more. . Keeping herself busy, she found, kept her conveniently distracted, up until Ezekiel rang that is.She had expected to miss him, of course, what she hadn’t expected was exactly how much. She was getting better at it, or at least she liked to think so. People weren’t kidding when they said the long distance thing wasn’t easy.
Waving her parents off she ditched her heels and trudged back up the stairs, dumping the dress she’d been wearing by the door and pulling on a singlet before collapsing onto the bed. The sound of his voice made her jump, besides herself, the only other person in the house was the maid and she very rarely came up to her room. At first she thought she imagined it, that she had now gone completely crazy, until she looked up and saw him standing there. Jumping up she had crossed the room, leapt into his arms and kissed him before remembering she wasn’t even properly dressed. Blushing, she grinned, “I missed you ”

This was probably as romantic as he got, the whole presents and flowers and what not had never been his forte, or at least he'd never been able to do something meaningful, not that he'd ever been with a girl long enough or a girl that he cared enough for or cared enough about him that he had to worry about things like that. A nice necklace or perfume was enough to get a girl off his back for a little while. It wasn't that easy with Isolde, but he wasn't complaining. The look on her face when she looked up at him and as she flew across the room into his arms was more excited and happy then he'd ever seen on any one of the girls then he'd just gotten them a necklace or something for. And that was about as far as he thoughts got before she was kissing him, he probably could've told you down to the hour how long it had been since he'd last kissed her and held he, just like he could tell you exactly how many miles distance were between them though he'd deny he'd MapQuest'd that shit. Remembering those kisses did them little justice though and he grinned against her lips, not wanting to pull back from her but still grinning when she did pull away. He chuckled a little at the blush that had flooded her cheeks, Really? He asked, his thumb stroking her warm cheek, I couldn't tell. He said, kissing her again before she could give him a smartass remark about him being such a smartass. He barely pulled away from the kiss before he spoke again, I missed you too. Insanely. Time between his visits dragged on and on and the time he spent visiting seemed to fly by in a blink of an eye. I'm loving this new look of yours, by the way. He mused, trailing his eyes over her body quickly, before he drew them back to her face , which was more self-control then he had this time last year, It's totally working for you, I gotta say. He smirked a little know before, his smile grew softer and he tucked some hair behind her ear, taking her face in again. He knew that being away from her was going to be difficult but he didn't know that it was going to be difficult as it turned out, it was even worse then he'd been feeling before he left. Though, he probably should have expected it, what with the changes she had already elicited in him. With other girls he would've been over it in a day, not feeling it again until the first Friday night he had to go without a little female entertainment. Which he was pretty sure would've resulted in just breaking up with her. Actually, were he dating another girl before he left last fall he probably would've dumped her before he left, no need to keep her hanging on like that.
His smile dimmed for a moment, I have to leave early tomorrow, though. He told her with a sigh, My prof was being a total dick and didn't let me know she wasn't going to let me miss until the last minute and it was a pretty shitty time to be booking last minute tickets on Valentine's day weekend. He caught a strand of her hair, I wish we had more time. He said, bringing his forehead to hers, holding her gaze for a minute before he stepped back and kissed her forehead. A grin lit his face as he remember what he had gotten her, I did plan a little further ahead for your gift though... If he thought getting out here was hard, planning the right gift was much harder, he was just used to the easy shit. His conversation with Tizz proved further that he was smarter for taking the route he had. With an easy motion he picked her up, kissing her again and walking over to her bed and setting her down, he pulled the box from his pocket before he sat down next to her, I don't know if you knew, but summer before last I did this writing program in Ireland, one of my mother's cousins set it up for me... I stayed with them instead of at the hotel and everything. He explained, turning the box in his hands, I knew a lot about my dad's side of the family, but I hadn't really learned much from my mom about her family. Anyways, uhm, I got to meet my great grandfather and he told me how he met my great grandmother one day after church in Dublin. He grinned a little at the memory, the mans weather face had been so animated and he gave every little detail painting the picture perfectly, Ezekiel knew instantly where he'd picked up his habit for long winded explanations and his writing talent, Pretty much, it's a long ass story, that I really don't think I could do justice to. He admitted, before he returned to his original plan, Well, she died of cancer about ten years ago, and he was going to give this to my mom, but she never wanted it. He said I could have it, when I needed it. He actually felt a little nervous now that it was time to hand it over, but he quickly pushed it away, he held the box out for her.
Once she opened it, he continued his story, It's a Claddagh Ring, I don't know what you know about them but they have a lot of meanings really... For his great grandparents they had taken on the most serious meaning, Ezekiel may have been changed but he wasn't that changed. It can be a friendship ring, a promise ring, engagement ring , wedding ring. A lot of things, it's just how you wear it... He said trying not to rush his words, On the right hand, pointing out means you're looking for love, which you better not be, he teased with a chuckle as he took the ring from her hand and slipping it on her right ring finger, heart pointing down, Like this, it means your in love, you're heart has been captured. On your left hand, heart out is engaged, heart in is married. He continued, And there is even more, he said with a chuckle, The heart means love, obviously. the hands are friendship and the crown is loyalty. He said pointing to the parts in turn, You don't even have to wear it like that if you don't want to, I got a chain for it too. That's how my cousins girlfriend wears it. He said, picking up the box and pulling the satin bed up and holding up the white gold chain, I had these stones replaced, they were just cubic zirconium, I thought you'd like the emeralds, because I know you love green. He said with a shrug, smiling down at her.

She laughed a little at his sarcasm, about to offer something equally smartass in return, but he preempted her with a kiss, which she certainly wasn’t objecting to. Despite fully expecting a comment somewhere along those lines, she still fought not to blush, she was about to point out that she hadn’t been expecting company, but paused, seeing a opportunity to make up for the comment she hadn’t gotten in before. Instead she cocked her head to one side, smiling faintly “oh really?” she asked, as coolly as she could manage with him looking at her like that, “such a shame you haven’t been around to enjoy it then huh?” she added then, her grin pure mischief. There was a flicker of disappointment at his words, but she didn’t let it dampen her mood for long. She’d be lying to say she didn’t want more time than that, especially when it seemed to pass by at twice the speed when they were together, but there really wasn’t much point in worrying about it. He was here now, that was the main thing. “in that case, im going to be incredibly selfish and insist that you spend it all with me” she told him, wondering briefly how he’d managed to not get roped into at least part of the Valentines festivities. How glad she was that she bailed last minute, there really was no competition as to where she would rather be tonight.
“you mean this isn’t it?” she asked then, referring to his surprise appearance, that alone was enough of a present really, and certainly more than she had been expecting. There was a brief irrational flutter of nerves when he carried her towards the bed, and she looked away, hoping it didn’t show on her face. Considering his history it really wasn’t a silly thought, and yet it was. After all he’d been nothing but patient and understanding, pulling back whenever things got more intense than she was ready for, and with little hesitation. Glancing up at him she smiled, before dropping her gaze curiously to what he was pulling from his pocket. Propping her chin on his shoulder when he sat down she looked up at him, listening, and every once in awhile glancing down at the box that he was turning nervously in his hands. There was something oddly endearing about it to her. She tried not to be too abrupt in taking the box and opening it, but with all that lead up she was anxious to see what was inside.
Pulling the box open, she gazed at the ring inside, and up at Ezekiel as he continued to explain. She managed to go at least thirty seconds before the temptation to pull it out for a closer look overwhelmed her. At his teasing she grinned, watching him take the ring and slip it on. She blushed a little then, captured certainly was the word for it, her heart was all his and no one else’s. Glancing at the chain he held up she shrugged, and held her hand out and front of her, “I think I’d rather wear it like this..” she told him with a smile, “your right, I do love green..” she responded, looking briefly down at the ring again, “but theres something I love more..” she added, wrapping her arms around his neck, “I bet you can guess what that is..” she said, kissing him lightly, before crawling into his lap and pulling his arms around her. Holding her hand up in front of her so she could look at it again she tried to contain her disbelief, “you really want to give this to me?” she asked, angling her body so she could look up at him. She had plenty of expensive jewelry, but not much that had any real meaning behind it. This wasn’t just some ring he’d gone and bought, it was his great grandmother, part of his history. “I’m sorry if that sounded ungrateful” she added quickly, “because its beautiful and I love it, its just.. wow.” wrapping her arms around his neck again she kissed him, “thankyou.. ” her smile dimmed for a moment and she bit her lip, “I feel really bad now, because I don’t have anything to give you in return” she confessed, looking sheepish.

Ezekiel chuckled as she spoke, shaking his had, Okay, yeah, I deserved that. A grin spread across his face, he tilted his mouth to her ear, I'm committing it to memory though. He said, before he pressed his lips below her ear with another chuckle. It was totally cruel of her to tease him like that, half the time he was pretty sure that was her favorite part of the times they were together, because no matter how long it had been since they had last seen each other it had always quickly dissolved into teasing and a few healthy swats to his ego, which he all deemed completely unnecessary but he wasn’t all the objective in the matter. No one but you and my sister know I‘m here. Had anyone else known he was positive that, save for his mother, they wouldn’t have bothered him anyways given time with Isolde was so sparse. I'm more then willing to allow you to monopolize my time, it‘s encouraged even. He said with a faint smirk, catching her lips in another kiss, mustering up all his rarely used self control. It wasn’t a habit he’d had to put into much practice before her and it was a much harder one to form then it was to break, nor was using it as fun as ignoring it was. It seemed to be one he’d had to use since the first time they’d truly hung out without the awkward backdrop of one of their mothers events where he spent most of his time flirting like a man about to go to prison for life and drinking copious amounts of scotch to make it through the monotony. It was harder then he had ever imagined, especially when one had spent all their time just giving into temptations, before her he wouldn’t have been able to gently pull back from the kiss as his hand slipped up the back oh her thin tank top and offer her the relaxed smile he did. No, it’s not. Though at one point he was presence was just going to have to do it, especially since elaborate plans hadn’t meant so much to him as just being able to see her.
He chuckled a little picking up on her impatience to just see the ring, though it hadn’t sped up his explanations anymore, that was just him; wordy. There was also a mix of foreign emotions and second guessing himself going on, he was always a confident kid, more then confident but there was no need to go further then that. Ise had a way of shaking him, she touched him more then anyone had, making him nervous, making him check himself, it was new to him but he wasn’t complaining about any of it. He let the silvery chain pool back in the bottom of the box before he closed it and set it over on her side table before he turned his attention back to her words, Puppies? Cotton candy? He asked, jokingly to her comment, as he pulled her into his lap, resting his hands across her stomach and letting his chin sit lightly on her shoulder, watching her examine the ring with a small grin, kissing her neck carefully in the spots he’d learned that didn’t make her giggle thought it was adorable when she had. He chuckled at her question, shaking his head at her, Of course, I do. And it didn‘t sound ungrateful. He said, letting his lips brush her forehead. Wow is good, He said with a chuckle before he was silence by her lips, he brought his arms around the small of her back pulling her closer, forgetting himself for a moment until she pulled away, a little concern flashing across his face as her smile faded briefly, before he shook his head at her. Being with you is enough, you didn‘t have to get me anything. He said, lightly kissing her, The ring wasn‘t even planned for Valentine‘s Day anyways, the timing just worked out so perfectly that I figured now was a good a time as any. He paused for a moment, I wanted it to mean something more then a silly Valentine‘s day gift, which is why I wanted to give it to you later, but I couldn’t wait honestly. He said with a grin, dropping his gaze from hers for a moment. I love you, I really wanted you to have it. He brought a hand up, cupping her face, he held her gaze for a moment as he stroked her cheek before he leaned forward and kissed her again, pulling her closer to him, he felt his self control slipping again and he had pushed up the back of her shirt before he had pulled away trying to catch his breath. Her lack of clothes, the bed and their seating arrangement was not helping at all. Sorry, He said still a little breathless, So, what do you want to do? Go out, stay in, I might even suffer through The Notebook for the one hundred and seventieth time if you‘d like. He said with a chuckle, a part of him seriously hoping she’d vote for getting some pants on and heading out, staying on could get dicey. You‘re mom isn‘t going to like check on you when she gets back? I don’t think she’d like to find this. He said with a smirk even though he was pretty sure he’d love to see the look on her face.

She smiled, “deserved what? ” she asked, her expression innocent, at least until his next words, which sent a shiver down her spine. Holding back a blush she looked away, a little irritated she was too flustered by it to respond. She was getting better, but when it came to these kinds of tactics, eventually she always ended up out of her depth. Still she managed well enough, eliciting some rather amusing reactions from him. “good ” she said with a grin, her mood brightened considerably by that, if he was only going to be here until tomorrow she probably wouldn’t have been all that gracious about having to share him. “and I wont tell promise.. ” she added, chuckling. “ how nice of you…” she managed dryly before he was kissing her again, smiling against his lips she concentrated on how nice it was to be in his arms again, and not how much she was going to miss that when he left again. Still, it flickered briefly on her face when he pulled away, earlier than she would have liked, before dissolving quickly into a smile. “ well its going to have to be something really good, you know, to top this…” she joked, chuckling. With her dad coming home and then him appearing unexpectedly too, she was fairly certain anything else would be a bit of an anticlimax.
She laughed, “ not even close, silly boy ” she chided, his breath against her neck ticklish, making her smile. Resting one hand over his she twisted the other side to side, watching the emeralds glitter as they hit the light, it was a battle however not to be distracted by him as he kissed her neck. Now that he’d learned how to do so without triggering her ticklishness it was something she’d come to enjoy. At his words she raised a brow, pulling back from the brief kiss with mischief in her eyes, “ does that apply to birthdays too? Or Christmas?” she paused, “ easter? ” she added hopefully, holding back a laugh, “im kidding, really ” she assured him, grinning widely. Toying with the hair at the nape of his neck she listened to him speak, her movements stilling at the last sentence. She looked up, meeting his gaze, wrapping her arms tighter around his neck as he kissed her. She stopped herself just short of a whine when he pulled away, once again, quicker than she would have preferred, but for good reason. Kisses like that were the kind you didn’t really want to end, the kind that made her reevaluate whether she was ready to take that step. Dangerous kisses. Composing herself, she looked up at him, her smile apologetic, it had to be hard for him, “ its fine” she said softly, dropping her gaze from his momentarily to smooth out her top, her heart still beating fast. To his question she shrugged, which, by the look she got, was apparently not a good enough answer, “umm.. ” she began, thinking about it for a moment, being decisive wasn’t one of her strong points, or perhaps that was just a by-product of having a mother like hers, she was too used to things being decided for her, “ I dunno… have you eaten yet? We could go out to eat… or… I could make you something? ” she asked, skillfully turning the decision back of on him again. She didn’t really feel like going out, she’d rather stay right where she was, but that probably wasn’t the safest idea. His question made her laugh, and shaking her head she and kissed him briefly before slipping out of his arms and standing up,“ by the time she gets home she’ll barely be able to walk straight, let alone negotiate stairs.. ” she joked, crossing the room, last night she had indulged heavily under the guise of having to spend the valentines dinner alone, but she didn’t figure the presence of her dad would alter tonight’s outcome by much, “of course, there is my dad.. ” she added after a moment, pausing to glance over her shoulder at him, before disappearing into her closet. Grabbing a pair of jeans she pulled them on, before switching the singlet for something a little more substantial. Reaching up she grabbed one of her many jackets, jumping a little as she turned around and found him standing just outside the door, “perv.. ” she joked, poking her tongue out at him before grinning, “so… where to? ”

He resisted the urge to snicker a little when she had nothing to respond with, but his smile did turn a little smug as she turned her face away from him, sometimes it was almost too easy and while he wished she'd have let the blush flood her cheeks he was amused enough by this, chuckling he leaned forward and kissed her cheek. He grinned, The only person I'm worried about finding out is my mother. Even if it were too late to take up all his time having him go here and there for her, she'd never forgive him for being in town and not coming to see her. That might make me a horrible son but I don't want to spend my time being shown off when I could be here with you. His mom knew that and he wondered if that was why she was so difficult when he came home. She liked Isolde and the family, but she wasn't a girl she'd picked for Ezekiel. His eyebrows knitted when he pulled back from her the look that flashed across her face made him frown, I have spring break soon after this, He began, he was pretty sure her thoughts were in line with his, he wanted to focus on the here and now as much as possible but having the thought of leaving so soon again was hard to ignore, That's two weeks long and after that it's only a hop, skip and jump to the end of semester. Still, it was entirely too long. He chuckled at her teasing, he was hoping it was as good, he'd been over thinking the whole idea enough, wondering if it was something too serious or it'd just be like another piece of jewelry she could've gotten from anyone. The way he second guessed himself with her drove him mad sometimes.
He laughed a little at her reproof, Are you sure? Have you never seen a chapoodle? Even he'd melted a little when Bella had showed him the one her best friend had gotten. A grin spread over his face easily as he watched her catch the ring in the light, twisting her hand the way he'd seen his mom or rather any women with a nice new ring do a thousand times over, it made him feel like an idiot for having worried about it so much. He raised an eye brow at her questions, Easter? Really? He asked her, laughter overlapping his words, Who gives gifts on Easter? The only thing he got on Easter was getting to spend most of the day in Mass trying not to fall asleep and going crazy on the candy at the picnic after services were over and the little kids did an Easter Egg Hunt. It felt impossible trying to pull back from her, they'd had brief talks about sex which had basically culminated in the idea of waiting, which seemed to be becoming harder for both of them. Seeing her impatience with breaking off one of those dangerous kisses too soon made it even harder for him in the long run, he had to keep reminding himself that he couldn't rush her or push her. It's get neither of them nowhere in the long run, sure, they'd have gotten what they wanted but she was going to regret it, get mad at him for pushing her. He waited for a solid answer from her, the look on his face expectant and showing he wasn't satisfied with a mere shrug. They were both bad when it came to planning but when everything had been planned out for you most of your life he figured it shouldn't have been too surprising. Keeping the decisions in his hands at this point would end up with them staying for more of this torturous making out. He laughed, I saw what you did there, don't think I missed you pushing it back on me. He gave her a quick kiss, shaking his head. They were completely hopeless at coming up with solid decisions. He frowned as she pulled away from her to quick kiss and got up from his lap, he did take this time to let his eyes trail downward resting on her ass for a second until he heard her speak, Yeah, I didn't think about that. His mother was much the same, he chucked at the comment about her father, He doesn't have a gun, does he? He joked, pushing off the bed and followed her to her closet, leaning lazily in the doorway, and he tried not to stare too much like some creepy voyeur. He laughed as she jumped a little, shaking his head at her perv comment, Maybe so. He said, pulling her towards him and catching her in another kiss. They'd get nowhere at this rate but he was sure that neither of them were going to complaining about stalling for this. I'd say a movie at my place but then we are just in the same predicament there now aren't we? He returned with a chuckle, the many times they'd turned to his ridiculous collection of movies they never actually got to see much of the movie they had picked.

His words brought a knowing smile across her lips, “ I’m surprised she hasn’t already.. ” it was hard to have any secrets when you had mothers that were nosy as well as well connected, Ise had long since given on even trying to, she wasn’t even sure how half the time, but her mom always found out; regardless. ” I’d be offended if you did…” she teased, grinning lightly, “you know your mother, always thinking ahead.. ” she added, a little resigned, half heartedly pulling a smile across her lips. She was well aware of the way his mother looked at her, as just another of the many girls in his life, another girl he’d soon get tired of and move on. She wasn’t completely naive, she wasn’t expecting him to drop down on one knee any time soon, or even at all, but she felt she deserved a little more credit. Her own mother wasn’t much better, in some ways she was worse. Frequently she’d find herself shooting looks at her at parties, or when that didn’t work, quite literally dragging her away from whatever boy she was trying to fix Ise up with and remind her ‘hello, I have have a boyfriend’. It was ridiculous really, but perhaps they just felt slighted because they hadn’t thought to set them up themselves. It was obvious by his next words, and the frown, that she hadn’t fooled him. Either he was getting better at reading her moods, or she wasn’t as good as she used to be at hiding them. She raised a brow, “who spends their spring break in hollow creek? ” she teased, hoping to lighten the mood.
She glanced up at him, “ a chapoodle?” she asked, raising a brow, “ what is that Chihuahua crossed with poodle?” she asked, laughing a little at the thought, before shrugging, “I’ve never been a fan of little dogs” an opinion that had not, in the least, been improved when her mother had decided to get one. She laughed and gave a shrug, “ I dunno… ” she admitted, grinning, it wasn’t really something they paid much attention to at her house, aside It being one of the rare times her dad insisted they go to church “I bet someone does… ” she added thoughtfully. She blinked, staring at him innocently for a moment, before grinning mischievously, “ no, what I did there was offer to cook for you, talk about ungrateful..” she teased, rolling her eyes, “ if it gets me out of having to decide then so much the better..” she added, smiling brightly, “regardless, you didn’t answer my question..” she pointed out, gazing at him expectantly. It felt like they were always having this conversation, It was amazing they ever got around to doing anything some days. She shook her head at his question, the mental picture of her dad toting a gun making her laugh, “if he was planning to shoot you I’m sure he would have done it already.. ” she teased, grinning as she fiddled with the top button of her jeans. That being said, he probably would have changed his mind had he walked in a few minutes ago, or now even, as much as he liked zeek, he was still a dad. Allowing herself to be pulled towards him she draped her arms around his neck, the grin on her face indicating she was more than content with this alternative.
Still savoring the kiss she bit her lip, smiling gently, “yeah, because that works out so well for us .. ” she teased, leaning up to kiss him briefly. When it came to watching movies with him she’d learned to pick ones that she’d already seen, or ones that she had no real desire to watch, because she was generally too distracted to actually take any of it in. She met his gaze, her expression shifting from amused to contemplative, “ gets in the way, doesn’t it?” she asked after a moment, her gaze sweeping across his face before reaching up to touch him affectionately on the cheek. There was a part of her that wanted to, a small and increasingly vocal part, but one that was easily lost amongst the doubts and insecurities that she felt every time they reached that point. They had talked about it, or more accurately, he tried to talk about it with her, and she looked for the quickest way to change the subject. “ come on..” she instructed, taking his hand long enough to pull him out the door and onto the landing. Skipping across to the banister she slid down to the second floor, spun around long enough offer him a mischievous smile before leaping over the railing and disappearing. It was a trick she’d learned off her cousin, and one that had almost given her mother a heart attack the first time she did it to her, the subsequent lecture she had received for it had been well worth it just to see the look on her face. Jumping off the solid cupboard that split the sizeable drop to the bottom floor into two manageable jumps, she glanced up at zeek again before making her towards the kitchen. Opening the fridge she rummaged around for a few moments and had just pulled out a container of strawberries when zeek appeared, picking one up she took a bite before smiling at him, “ ..hi” she offered demurely, expression faintly smug, before holding out the container to him, “ strawberry? ”

I think when airport security frisked me they found a way to remove her tracking device or disable it. He said with a smirk, his mother was like... There weren't any words she should have been in the FBI or a ninja. She knew much more then just the normal Mom knows everything kind of stuff. It was scary sometimes. That'd be a little weird too, he said thoughtfully, chuckling a little and brushing some hair from her face, When she finds out I've been here I'm dead though, He trailed a finger down her cheek until it rested under her chin and tilted her lips up to his, It's totally worth it though. He murmured against her lips... She had a point, no one wanted to spend their spring break in Hollow Creek, shit, no one really wanted to spend their Spring Break in the states if they didn't have to, he wasn't going to lie and say at one point he wasn't eager as all fuck to get as far away from Holow Creek as he could, as much as he could but it was well established that he'd do pretty much anything to spend time with her. Did you want to go somewhere? He asked, Anywhere you want... He promised with an impish grin, there wasn't a snowballs chance in hell they'd get away with but it was a nice thought. Ezekiel nodded, It is, it is. He said laughing a little at her reaction, he nodded, Yeah, I know that, neither am I but you should see them. It hardly meant he wanted one, he was the kind of person that tied balloons to little dogs to see how many it took to float them, but he couldn't deny they were kind of cute. I guess the baskets are kind of like gifts, I mean you're giving them to the kids cus there's really no Easter Bunny... He reasoned with a shrug, it was a stretch but he'd always been good with stretches. Ungreatful? Zeek questioned with a laugh, Pft.. He shook his head, feigning offense, I had like... He knitted his brows looking up in thought, I don't know I ate before class this morning... Picked at the food on the plane that's all. He said with a shrug, which had to be some kind of record. If you really want to cook I won't turn down food. He said with a grin, plus he wasn't to keen on having to go out. Zeek nodded, considering it for a moment, You'e probably right, but your dad has always struck me as the sneaky type, get me when I'm least expecting it. He quipped with a chuckle.
He watched as her teeth teased her lip, and he grinned a little, It all depends on how you want to look at it, honestly. He returned before he met her kiss, which was normally what happened when they tried to watch a movie it'd dissolve into kissing. He tilted his cheek into her touch a little, smiling down at her, before he shrugged to her question, So, food then? He asked, switching subjects easily, and he followed her out the door laughing as she took to the banister, he moved across to it watching her until she made it to the bottom and he made his way down the stairs, heading to the kitchen. He tilted his head a little as he stood in the doorway watching her bent over in the fridge before he walked towards her as she straightened up and he grinned seeing a little smugness on her face, amused, Hi, He replied with a chuckle, before he looked down into the green strawberry basket and took one up and took a bite from it, All we need is some chocolate, now. He said before he leaned lazily against the counter, and reaching for her waist, keeping his hands off her had been enough of a problem when they'd been seeing each other everyday, this whole going weeks without being able to kiss her or hug was just for the birds. You're sweet enough though. He said pulling her towards him and catching her in another kiss taking the strawberries from her hand and putting them on the counter next to him, he pulled away after a too short minute and sighed, We'll never get anything done if you keep distracting me like this. He teased her with a chuckle, bracing for the hit before he kissed her forehead, What can I do? He asked, setting his mind to being helpful for now.

She laughed at his words, while meant jokingly, they weren’t really all that far fetched. Which was the scary part. She wouldn’t put it past her mom to do something like that. “but is it? ” she challenged as she pulled back him his kiss, before smiling faintly, “ I gotta say.. I kind of prefer you alive, you know? ” her gaze shifted downward for a briefly moment, and she bit her lip “You aren’t much use to me otherwise ” she teased, blue eyes glittering with mischief. She shot him a look, dangling the completely impossible prospect of two uninterrupted weeks with him in front of her? It wasn’t nice. “my mom wants me to visit my grandpa, since I didn’t go see him over the summer… ” she began, remembering the conversation with her mother just last week, not that she really had to be persuaded to go, she loved it there, the main reason she hadn’t was simply because she wanted all the time with Ezekiel that she could get before he went off to college, “ you could come? ” she offered, grinning up at him. It could work, her grandpa hardly expected her to spend all her time with him, and her mom couldn’t do much about zeek going to italy for spring break, could she?
She laughed, “ I’m sure they’re adorable… ” she began, smiling, all dogs were at that stage, it wasn’t until they grew up that their yapping turned from being cute to just plain annoying. “still wouldn’t make the top five.. ” she added simply. She glanced up at him in mock surprise, “ what? Theres no easter bunny? ” she asked, incredulous, “ I suppose next thing you’ll tell me is the tooth fairy isn’t real either.. ” she joked, laughing. She nodded, “yeah, that’s right, ungrateful.. ” she confirmed, grinning. She regarded him suspiciously for a moment, “ that’s all.. ?” she asked, unconvinced, brushing his hair back she pressed the back of her hand to his forehead, “ are you sick or something?” she teased, the look of mock concern melting into a smile. A boy going that long without food? It was simply unnatural. At his words she smiled, “ unlike some people, I actually enjoy cooking.. ” she pointed out, before shrugging, “I can always eat it myself if your not hungry.. ” she teased, stifling a grin. “ very true. ” she agreed, watching movies she could do any time, with anyone, so it was completely fine with her if that time was spent kissing instead. She smiled a little at his shrug, chuckling lightly at his question and nodding. “I think we’ve got- ” she began, turning back towards the fridge, her sentence cut short as he gripped her waist , “ hey.. ” she protested rather half heartedly, brushing his hands off, which lasted all of maybe five seconds, a smile pulling across her lips as he pulled her towards him. She stifled the urge to roll her eyes at his words, and instead angled her head back long enough to smirk and add sweetly, “ and your incredibly cheesy.. ” which, she supposed, she probably shouldn’t be complaining about, considering some of the more provocative things that came out of his mouth at times. She had learned quite quickly about his talent for making even the most innocent of things sound suggestive or dirty, and honestly, she’d never be able to look at some things the same way again. At his words she merely shook her head, amused by the look of expectation on his face, instead of hitting him though she trailed a hand down his chest and poked him in the ribs, “you’re a fine one to talk about being distracting.. ” she added, grinning, which turned into a laugh at his question, wrapping her arms back around his neck she kissed him briefly, “ I think its safer for us both if you just act as spectator, yeah?” she teased, pulling out of his arms and walking across to the pantry, pulling the doors open she scanned the shelves briefly, taking stock of what was in there and what she could make from it, “ anything in particular you feel like eating, or should I surprise you?” she asked, glancing at him.

Ezekiel shook his head at her words, even though they drew a chuckle, he tried to feign offense quickly though, Is that really all I am to you? He asked trying to keep up a serious face as he looked down at her, Just some hunk of man meat you think you can exploit whenever you feel like it? His grin turned impish as he turned his face into her neck and kissed one of the spots that didn't tickle, I think I can totally live with that. He said pulling back to look at her, his eyes reflecting the same mischief. His face fell a little at her words, there was no way he was going to encourage her going against her mom in that respect, as much as he loved to, but he still wasn't entirely sure about his standing with her mom, just like he wasn't sure exactly how their relationship settled with his own mom, lately he was beginning to realize that it probably wasn't' the smartest idea to do things that would encourage Ise's mom to try and say she couldn't see him anymore. His smile returned at her own as well as her suggestions, he nodded his head, That'd actually be pretty kick ass. No doubt it wouldn't sit right with his Mother, but he was past the point where he actually had to worry about jumping at her every whim, We went once and I didn't get to do anything because Bella was sick but my mom just had to go see this stupid Vineyard and look at something here and another thing there so I stayed with Bells. It seemed like there was always something like that, that had been more important to his mother then how Bella and him were doing. He arched a brow at her questions before laughing, Don't you even try pulling that on me... He jokingly threatened, though he'd had some trouble with the very same thing and a few of his younger cousins. He grabbed at the hand that had rested on his forehead, shaking his head a little at her antics, Silly girl, I'm fine, I just wasn't all that hungry I guess. He chuckled, Considering all the food I've had this past week along, I'm not surprised. That, and if he were being completely honest, he had been more then anxious to see her and give her his gift, he was pretty sure that might've translated with how flippantly he tried to give his answer. He laughed, Cooking is too hard, that's what they made take-out for. He could make basic meals and that was good enough for him, I'll be hungry once it's there, it's an amazing perk to the Y chromosome. He quipped with a teasing smile.
I may be cheesy but it's why you love me, She did have a talent of bringing out that side of him, the side he always remembered mocking in his friends when he'd seen it in them. Plus it was always a refreshing change to his perpetually dirty commentary, but it was all too adorable when she blushed and it had only made her that much more beautiful to him in the times when the strawberry color spread over her cheeks. If you don't like cheesy me, I think I can just give you a few suggestions on what else we cold use the chocolate syrup for, He said loftily his grin taken on that devilish edge it often did. He jerked a little away from her jabbing finger and he tried to play up an innocent face at her words, his grip on her waist tightening as she draped her arms around his neck, wanting to pout as she pulled back too quickly from her kiss, with her following words he actually did pretend to pout, Well, that's no fun. He muttered, as she stepped away from him and moved to the opposite side of the kitchen, Surprise me... He said with a shrug, Considering my diet has consisted of Easy Mac and Chinese food anything is gourmet nowadays. He told her with a chuckle, ruffling hand through his hair.

To his question she laughed, about to reply with something along the lines of ‘do you really want me to answer that?’ or possibly ‘yeah, that’s exactly what you are’ but his lips had made their way back to her neck, and, like so often, her mind blanked completely, an unfortunate weakness of hers that he was getting too good at using to his advantage. But, like always, she soon found a way to make up for it, “ oh good..” she began, smirking faintly, “ because theres plenty more ‘man meat’ where you came from..” she teased, biting her lip to keep from laughing and leaning up to kiss him before he had a chance to respond. Such a loving and supportive girlfriend wasn’t she? she’d like to say it was simply making up for all the time he’d been away, having all her hard work keeping his ego at a manageable level undone by all these fawning new york girls, something she tended to avoid thinking about too much, because while she trusted him, it still made her slightly uneasy, that and the pure straight out jealousy of them getting to see him everyday while she was stuck all the way over here in hollow creek. But what could she have really done? Its not like she could have asked him to stay, well… she could have, but she never would, like.. that level of selfishness just didn’t even register in her brain, at all, who really wanted to spend more time here than they had to? Not her, she couldn’t wait to be done at the academy, to go off to college, somewhere far far away, which had been a complete shock to her mother who had some insane idea that she was planning to stick around and go to northranger, thankfully her dad had taken her side, even though he earned himself a couple of nights on the couch for his trouble.
At his words she smiled, a good deal more enthusiastic about the trip then she had been then previously when it meant even more time spent away from him, she frowned briefly at the mention of his mother, and she rolled her eyes, its totally something her mother would have done in the same situation, brushing that thought away she looked up at him, “ never use ‘stupid’ and ‘vineyard’ in the same sentence around my grandpa.. ” she teased , “ he loves his wine… ” she added, chuckling lightly, “ speaking of, maybe with you there he’ll stop trying to set me up every boy my age in the town.. ” an amusing and embarrassing habit that her mother would no doubt be furious about if she knew, “ pull what?” she asked, smiling innocently. To his response she raised a brow, not willing to let it drop that easily, not when there was a couple more digs to be made, “ you boys actually have a not hungry setting? ” she teased, still skeptical “ amazing ” she added, as though such a concept was completely unheard of, she rolled her eyes, “you sound like my mother.. ” she responded flatly, knowing it wasn’t a comparison he’d take all that kindly to, “ only she says ‘that’s what they have personal chefs for’ ” she added, trying to inject a little humor back into her tone, she shook her head, “ yeah, I’ve noticed, landon does it to me all the time…” how many times had she surrendered whatever she just made for herself because he’d suddenly decided he was ‘starving’? too many.
She smiled, “ oh, its that why? … and here I thought it was because of these …” she teased, gesturing to his man bangs before ruffling his hair a little, “ so glad you cleared that up for me.. ” she added, laughing briefly. She had to shake her head at his next words, “ no, no… I think I’ll put up with cheesy you…” she assured him quickly, it wasn’t much of a reach to realize exactly where his mind had headed, or perhaps more appropriately, returned to, while she’d never put much stock in the whole ‘every seven seconds’ theory, there were definitely times where it actually seemed more than a little plausible. Still undecided she abandoned the pantry for a moment, returning to his side, “ and it shows..” she teased, patting his stomach briefly, stifling a laugh at the look that flashed across his face, one that made it clear he knew she was joking but chose to be insulted anyway, “ more to love?” she tried to console, smiling indulgently up at him, blue eyes glittering with amusement.
