This was not Chicago. This was far, far from the grungy city she loved. It hadn't even been a week and she'd yet to attended her new school and she already hated it. As if it didn't already have enough points against it with the rain, thus far it seemed to lack any of the entertainments that held her back at home, but really she was hoping that would change once she began at the Academy where she would meet kids her own age who knew where the fun things were. Though she wasn't like to make it to Monday, she might slit her wrists before the day was over. Isis, her little dog, whined a little as she looked up at Arissana, she sighed down at her dog as they walked to the park where she had spent most of her time that wasn't devoted to packing, at least Isis liked it. Not that her dog's opinion really did anything to boost the tiny towns appeal. She had met a few interesting people, one or two near her own, a couple even that felt her same desire for their lost city be it New York, Seattle or Boston, wherever. Though they seemed to have acclimated fairly well, they weren't wearing plaid and telling quaint stories about the Church Social.... Okay, so maybe this place wasn't that small town. It was definitely a university town, plus a dumping ground for rich, unlike her little suburb back in Chicago. A hopeful part of her was pretty sure she'd be having more fun here then she used to have in Chicago, but that was a part the sullen teenager was trying to ignore. Chicago was her town, no way was she going to have fun anywhere like that again.
True, she had been dethroned once, it hadn't been for very long and she had fought hard to take her crown back but she still didn't command the respect she used to. Anyone tried to take a swipe at her hoping to take her down. They didn't have the balls Arissana did, or the balls of the little slut (that wasn't being bitter or hateful, just honest) that had managed to nearly ruin her forever. This time a haughty sigh fell from her lips that was time she did not like to relive, it was shameful enough the first time. Again Isis picked up on the emotion rolling off of the young brunette and she looked down and smiled at the little puff ball, Hush, I'm still moving. She said quickening her pace a little as she turned into the park, she wasn't sure about the leash law here but she let her lose as soon as she was off the sidewalk, she shot off with a speed that if she were a larger dog Arissana would have no chance trying to catch up with the heels she wore. Predictably the little dog headed towards where the most people where and where she was likely to get the most pets; the Playground. Being an only child having to stomach all those children were beginning to wear on her nerves but Isis ate up the attention and Arissana no longer earned death glares once the nanny's and mothers realized that the puff ball was a nice dog and kept them amused quite nicely.
Leaning against an ancient tree she watched as Isis ran through a screaming group of toddlers that alternately squealed with joy and tried to pounce her. She flinched a little watching a smaller child grabbing the dogs tail and shy maybe should have tried to go rescue her dog, but she didn't really mind the abuse. Still she headed toward the sandbox she took off to, crossing her arms loosely across her chest rubbing hr hands against her arms trying to warm up, she plastered a fake smile across her face to the mothers who waved and enquired after her, and watched as Isis pestered a particular child, one that promptly burst into tears. Arissana had enough of a heart for her to actually frown, she hurried over to the screaming child and Isis. Hush! She chided her dog, pulling her up into her arms, she looked down at the child confused at what to do, so she patted the little girls shoulder, I'm sorry, look, she's nice.... She won't hurt you, see? She said, dropping down to the girls level, her voice losing the harshness it held with Isis.
hey, aleksandra a.ka DANI HELLA!, guess what!? this thing is done

another day at the park. she really had to wonder how someone could be so amused going to the same place day after day and do the same thing all the time and not even get a little bored. the young mother had tried taking vasilisa to the kids gym they had put up over the summer, but oh no, it was always the park. vasya had gotten bored within five minutes of going into the gym but after an hour or more every day at the park for months on end she still didn't tire of the place. still, she didn't grumble as she switched the child to her other hip as they made the familiar trip to the park. a smile spread across her face as she watched vasya stare up into the sky oblivious to the changed position. that was why aleks didn't get tired of coming everyday, vasya's smiles and giggles made it new every time. she stroked lissa's cheek lightly as she walked, ending the motion quickly as she remembered that it was almost a little to maternal an action to bestow upon a niece or cousin, that tore at her a little. she gave lissa plenty of affection but she hated having to check herself in public, she hated hearing lissa call oksana mommy. lissa also called aleksandra mom, but she used the russian word for it. it still didn't compare when you were watching your daughter call another woman mommy. aleks bit down hard on her lip, stop thinking about it. it was something that never ceased to depress her. she had made this choice, she thought it would have been better to pretend that lis was only her neice, or really cousin since oksana was aleks' aunt and not her sister. she could have been a little less scared and decided to not hide the fact she had a daughter.
again she had to banish the thoughts as she felt vasya, shift in her arms and a soft hand stroking her cheek, she looked down at vasya's hands and saw it sparkled with wetness. the stinging in her eyes clued her into the fact she was beginning to cry, lissa's jade eyes – my eyes – began to water in response and aleks tried to laguh. silly girl, i'm fine. don't. she said, kissing lissa's cheek and hefting the toddler up higher on her hip. she saw lissa stare at her for a moment longer before a barking dog took her attention, the child flinched away from the german shepherded and hid her face under aleksandra's hair, aleks rubbed her back softly, it's fine, it's fine... after a particularly frightening scene with a st. bernard lissa hated dogs, every kind of dog, big and small, even puppies. which dashed aleksandra's hope of ever having another pet dog, not like she could really take care of lissa and a pet.
lissa practically clawed her way out of aleks' arms and off her hip when she caught sight of the slide, she helped the squirming child to the ground and watched her take off to go defile her clean clothes, sure, you walk for that... aleks said quietly, smiling but still shaking her head. walking over to the bench that she normally sat at to observe lissa and the two or three girls she had made friends with, she pulled her legs to her chest and rested her chin in the niche between her knees. she stifled a yawn, lis was done cutting teeth for now – and had three shiny, sharp little teeth to show for it – but it only had really bought aleks an hour or so more of sleep. she was a restless sleeper like aleks was, though their reasons were entirely different, lis didn't have the nightmares that kept aleks awake. something white and lightening fast flashed in her vision and lis was already screaming before aleks could register it was a dog, she stood quickly bolting over to lissa catching another figure heading towards her, hopefully the owner of the loud infernal creature. she was glad to see that, yes, it was the owner of the dog but she had her hands on lis which just wasn't cool. no matter what. it got worse as she recognized the face that belonged to the hands. don't touch her! she said fiercely, snatching lissa up into her arms, glaring at the too familiar face. if anyone could wake up the long dormant bitch side of aleks it was the girl in front of her. put your rat on a leash, you know it is supposed to be on one. she hissed, bouncing lissa and rubbing her hair, shushing her quietly.

If you had asked Arissana last week if she ever thought she was going to see Aleksandra Petrovsky again she would have laughed – after she punched you since Aleks was the slut who had stolen her crown – but that voice.... That could only be her voice, the words were faintly stilted with a Russian accent that only came out on the weekends and clung to her words early in the day on Monday, before the surrounding American accents returned her voice to normal. Since Aleks' mom was still in Chicago Arissana figured she must have been staying with other accented family members. She jumped back from the child, as a person pushed past her and swept the screaming child in their arms with blinding speed. Arissana was beyond floored, No fucking way.. It had to be her, slightly heavier, mostly masked by her loose top and she'd definitely filled out the top of her shirt better then she used to, but she wasn't showing off like she used to. Her hair and make-up weren't as carefully done as Arissana remembered, in fact it looked like she spent little more then the absolutely needed effort on it. This wasn't the polished little princess she recalled and hated, but it was definitely her.
A run in with a neighbor only a few months older then her registered, Arissana had got her to give her a few details of her future classmates, it was basic and the name "Alexandra" had come up, but she never thought it was Aleks. No one back in Chicago knew what happened to her, after her weird month where she'd all but dropped off the social radar she just disappeared, her mother didn't say much just that she left. Arissana figured she was sent to Russia to get straightened out or be turned into a whore since she was doing such a good job at it already. She didn't think to question the girl further about this Alexandra that was really Aleksandra, because honestly what were the fucking odds... Obviously the girl hadn't got any sweeter in her time away from the city, Arissana couldn't help but fire back just as rudely, What the fuck is your problem, Aleks? I was just trying to calm her down!
The loudness of her voice and her language inappropriate for where she was, she felt the glares of the mothers land on her and she was pretty sure whatever progress she made with them was gone. No, I didn't know, or else I would have had her on one. She pulled the leash from her back pocket and began to hook it back up but the scene finally registered with her. She looked away from Isis and stared at Aleks and the now almost calm child, pieces clicked and sums figured themselves out. No fucking way.... Arissana breathed, shaking her head, that kid was the perfect age. The little girl could be no older 13 months, it was perfect. No one had thought of that, given Aleksandra's actions before she left she was shocked a pregnancy never occurred to anyone. Mostly because no matter how easy Aleks was they all knew she never did it unless she was safe, she was like a hooker with a heart of a gold, always preaching about condoms and what not. Maybe Arissana was wrong, but she doubted it, looking at that little girl was like looking at a mini-Aleks. The hair was too curly but the eyes and face they were all Aleks. The way the child instantly relaxed and not only Aleksandra's whole mama-bear-back-the-fuck-off-my-kid attitude, it couldn't be anything but. No one knew either, because she was sure her informant would have tossed that kind of information out there. How anyone could not know was beyond her, all they had to do was look in the child's face, five minutes with the two and she was pretty sure even loose observation could confirm it. This place was looking better already, she didn't know where Aleks' social standing was her, but she was pretty sure if she had any kind of place in the hierarchy here her Mommy status would fuck it all to hell, a cold smile twisted Arissana's lips, it was soo time for revenge. You ran away to pop out a kid? She snorted, This is beautiful, I'm so taking you down, Petrovsky. Shaking her head, she looked down at the child, she was beautiful little girl and she would have offered her a softer smile but she looked up to Aleks again, So, is she Tyler's? Logan's? Maybe Eric's.... Or do you even have any clue, after so many guys they just all start to blur together right? hey, aleksandra a.ka DANI HELLA!, guess what!? this thing is done, it's got seven hundred and eighty-eight love letters in there for you. oh, i gotta give a shout out to myself for the banner & liz for making me this template. oh and guess what that post script says!? i haven't played mean in forever. i'm rusty. aleks never expected to see anyone from home again. she loved her friends to death, but none of them were smart enough to get to the academy, nor did she see any of their parents moving out here and them attending the regular high school. arissana was also the last person she ever wanted to see again, their rivalry was long standing and vicious. no good could come of this meeting, as already exhibited but aleks' momentary return to her former bitch self. yeah, she was overreacting a little bit this was completely innocuous, aris didn't purposely send her rat over to torment lis, but they were both alpha personalities. putting both of them within five feet of each other was too much without some kind of explosion going on. the fact that she had lissa in her arms was possibly the only thing that was keeping her semi-calm though she was pretty sure that too much longer and she wouldn't be able to help it anymore. my problem? what's your problem! hello, there is a toddler here, watch your mouth. wow, she really had become a mom, she wouldn't have commented about language last time she saw aris. rolling her eyes, she turned to take lissa back home but the steady, scrutinizing gaze she got from aris froze her. that was a calculating gaze aleks had seen many times before. she was beyond sure what aris was deducing. god, someone had finally figured out. it took her less then five minutes to figure out what nobody in a little over a year had figured out. there had been some questions, mostly her varying from calling lissa her cousin to her niece but after explanation oksana was like a sister to her it made sense. plus familial terms were loose among her family, cousins were cousins that were in no way related. something delilah had thoroughly understood and never batted an eye at.
maybe she saw too much in aris' face, maybe she'd changed as much as aleks, excepting the whole giving birth thing because aris looked as rail thin as she always had, a little jealousy flared up in her. she had lost a lot of her weight from lissa and quickly but she wasn't as tiny as she had been. she had lost that vanity though when she moved here and the extra pant size didn't vex her much. aris' words – there she goes cussing again – proved that no, aris was thinking exactly what aleks expected her to be. crap. i'm so dead. she'd fucked aris over pretty hard back in chicago and arissana wasn't someone who easily ignored that kind of thing. she would get her revenge and lissa was the perfect vehicle. the only thing she had now was denial, if everyone else believed the story so could aris. she switched lissa on her hip, no. god, you know me better then that... i'd never be so stupid. she said holding back a flinch at the word, she didn't think lissa was a mistake. mostly cause aleks couldn't have controlled what happened to her but she'd totally come into motherhood and even if she hadn't of been raped she wouldn't think of her as a mistake. you're crazy, arissana, everyone knows she's my niece... she said calling on that old defiance, the long lost attitude slipping back into place easily. aleksandra's temper flared, she tightened her hold on lissa marginally, her only response, unless her eyes gave away how much that slight truly burned.
aleks couldn't deny that she had presented less then intelligent behavior when she was in chicago, but it didn't mean she wanted it thrown back i her face, especially when she had made such a 180. even if she was far from that girl she didn't like having her past thrown in her face, especially by someone who really had no room to talk, you know how crazy you sound aris... don't you think everyone would know if she was my kid? she tried to act unaffected, tyler has red hair and freckles, blue eyes. eric is asian and logan is disgusting and i never slept with him. she said, the last part accompanying a shudder. admittedly she didn't used to have the highest standards but they were high enough to avoid sleeping with logan. no one is going to believe you... some stupid bitch no one has heard of spreading rumors about me? she shook her head, arrogance drenching the move and her face, they'll laugh you quite. they know me. people love me. you're no one to them. not like she was much more outside of her circle comprised of jay, lilah and of course dominic. she had little social standing that the stigma of a kid could totally ruin, she was mostly afraid of dominic finding out. he wouldn't want her anymore. she knew that, but aris didn't. she did know aris and she knew she wasn't easily dissuaded, but maybe she could try.

A smirk teased her full lips, Sorry, mommy. Don't you have any soap handy?
Ah, if this information didn't do her good here it sure as hell would give her plenty to dish about back home, because she was determined her and her father were not staying here. All the denials in the world from Aleks would not convince her that the little girl cemented to her wasn't her daughter would not sway her. Arissana was sure of it, there could be no other reason. There was a heavier resemblance then that of even a little sister, Arissana remembered Viktoria and even she didn't look as much like Aleks as that little girl did. She had been looking forever for a way to get her back – she lost all hope after Aleks had disappeared – but now was the time and she had the most perfect way. Christmas had totally come early for Aris. A cold laugh escaped her lips at Aleks' words, Oh, yeah, obviously... Saracasm tainting the words as she motioned to the child in Aleksandra's arms. That is not your niece. She said, assuredly, That is definitely not Viktoria's little girl... Another cold smile twisted her lips, Unless your mom is as much of a slut as her daughter and she's got another kid running around to... Yeah, that might have been a cheap shot, but who really cared? It didn't say much for the intelligence of anyone in the town to not have figured out that this child was Alek's, unless of course the woman pretending to be the kid's mom looked exactly like Aleks. We're in the sticks, Aleks. There is a collective IQ of 12. Again, another unfair characterization of the town, any place that had naturally growing trees that weren't planted and maintained by county workers was the sticks to Arissana. She was a city girl through and through. If half of them had even seen five minutes of you back in Chicago they'd have no doubts that you spawned that. She said with a smirk, this day was turning out to be pretty amazing. Arissana had to hold back a small smile at Aleksandra's assessment of Logan, he was disgusting but she had never really known Aleks to be too discriminating. I could give you more choices but I don't think there is enough time in the world to run through that list. If she were being honest she didn't see any features in the child she recognized with the exceptions of Aleks'. She ran through the faces of their male friends, boys she'd seen at basketball games everything, none of them fit exactly. Oh, oh, what was that about language? She tsked her smirk growing colder, amusement glittering in her dark eyes. She tried not to think about Aleks' words, it really did put Aris at a disadvantage. They did know her, if there was any remnants of the old Aleks – and obviously there were – she would have had no problem gaining friends. Keeping them was another question entirely. She had to think that people would have wondered before, she was hoping that her words would be enough to make them seriously consider it again and realize that yes Aleks was a little slut. More words from her handy neighbor popped back into her head, Aleks had snagged a boy toy here. Something with a D... Damien, David.... Daniel. Dominic! Dominic. Her smile returned, Would Dominic belive you? She baited, I mean, really, Mommy Duty must be cutting into his getting lucky time? She quirked a brow, the flash in Aleks' eyes was telling. If your boyfriend dumps you, what more else do I need to do? That would be confirmation enough, no? Posining said boyfriend against Aleks would be hard, Aleks had a bargaining chip Aris didn't have. Aris wasn't going anywhere near someone Aleks had rolled around in bed with, yuck. hey, aleksandra a.ka DANI HELLA!, guess what!? this thing is done, it's got six fifty one love letters in there for you. oh, i gotta give a shout out to myself for the banner & liz for making me this template. oh and guess what that post script says!? ah, aris is a total cow. don't react, aleks. calm. however in her mind she set lissa down and pretty much shoved her fist down aris' throat. oh, wishful thinking. instead, she sighed and bit her lip against the stream of colorful insults. aleks just now realized how much better her impulse control had gotten since her chigaco days. no doubt that had she been back home – or at least didn't' have lissa in her arms – she would have launched herself at aris. she didn't even know it was possible for her to get this mad anymore and she hoped that this wasn't some kind of turning point for the worst starting here, no way was she into going to the person she used to be, she enjoyed the new boring version of herself. niece, cousin whatever. point is she's not my kid. she said, frustration heavy in her tone, she rolled her eyes at arissana's quip. oh yeah, because a your mom comeback was just so fricken original. maybe that should have pissed her off a little more but her mom didn't mean much to her anymore, she said she didn't aleks as her daughter then fine she didn't want her as a mom either. she belongs to my aunt. she said frostily, still trying to keep calm, not that i really have to justify my relations to you... her denials and obvious frustration wasn't really helping her case no doubt.
had she ever sounded that bad? hollow creek was far from the sticks, sure it wasn't wall to wall steel and skyscrapers but it was definitely not the sticks. that's still about eleven points higher then yours. she replied her tone returning one to she hadn't used in ages, who knew it would feel so weird to her to be a bitch. or to even be mean. bitch pretty much used to be her main setting, this would have been considered a normal conversation. well not the accusation of having a child, but the insult exchange yeah that used to be pretty run of the mill for her. she's not a 'that', aris. she said shaking her head, i'm not that aleks anymore, so it doesn't matter. she sighed, why was she even still doing this? nothing she could say would stop aris from spreading this around, she had about one day to take some preventative measures, unless aris was already as well hooked-up as she used to be. aris' was of spreading gossip was positively occult, no one should be allowed to have such destructive powers. that stung too, there was a pretty long list and she was not proud of that fact. even so, it's still shorter then yours. that might have been a stretch but really at this point it didn't matter.
aleks found it impossible to keep the shock from her face, how do you even know about him? she shook her head, we haven't slept togh- wait... god, what am i doing, this is stupid, arissana. she pulled a hand through her hair roughly, you've had your fun trying to intimidate me, but it's not going to work, and i don't have to keep standing here trying to convince you of the truth because we both know you've made up your mind and that's just the way it's going to be. she took a step forward her voice pitched low, you forget how easy it was for me to end your reign in chicago, and this is my town. we are on my turf, don't think for one second i couldn't ruin you again. her stomach felt a little queasy at the words, coupled with her tone and actions it was way too similar to the way she used to be. that was a side she did not want to revisit even if was just for a moment or two trying to get some heat off of her. leave me and my boyfriend alone, okay? you don't want to test me again. she said in one last show of defiance, her resolve steadily deteriorating. we're going home, lissa. she whispered into the now silent child's ear as she turned and walked away from aris. this was not something she was ready for, she'd been thinking about it, trying to plan it out, but the time never seemed right. she wasn't ready to admit to anyone what had happened to her. or to admit to dom that lis was hers. she didn't have much of a choice now, she had to tell him. it would be worse hearing it from aris or through the rumor mill. she was pretty sure that no matter what he was going to break up with her, but this was something he needed to hear from her. pulling her phone from her pocket she sent her aunt a quick text saying she needed to look after lis for a little bit, but she didn't tell her what she was going to do. she went back through her contacts and pulled up dom, 'need to talk. now. please.' and for a moment her finger hovered over the send button, before she finally pressed it and hurried to drop lis off.
